Sunday and Mondays Hunt

Here are my treasures from the last 2 days. Getting to know the Vision better every day and liking it better each time i use it. It is a powerful machine, i cant get within 10 or 15 feet of a DFX, drives them DFX's crazy.:rofl:Took me a couple minutes the other day to figure out what was wrong with my DFX when me and my daughter were out. I got two first time finds yesterday, a 1911 barber quarter and a 1902 V nickle. The Hopalong Cassidy badge was a neat find also. The 10" coil takes a little swingin to get the hang of, its not like the 950 or 5.3 but catching on fast and can really cover some ground. I have had the vision since Friday evening and found silver each time out with it, up to around 200 coins so far.

Try your frequency offset Ron when hunting next to the DFX. Although you have 10 selections to offset the frequency, I would try both the +5 and -5 settings. One should work better than the other, but can't tell you which.one is better. Instinct tells me to try -5 first.....

Nice post Ron, the results are promising. Thanks for supplying photos of the resultant finds.

The "Hopalong" badge is very interesting eh? I've all four Hopalong novels written by Louis L'Amour (under a different name originally as I recollect) as released in recent years. A marvelous find!

Your report provides performance indications that everyday hobbyists can relate to and appreciate. Congratulations on the barber quarter and V nickel....very nice finds indeed. Thankyou for making this effort, your comments/information on this new unit are most welcome. Good luck on your next outing and HH,

Jim Hemmingway.

Crykies...thats a load a coins. Nice digs for just starting with that V. Sounds like your moving pretty fast...are all the indicators hitting the coins right on? or did you dig any iffy signals?
Best of luck and thanks for sharin.

Thanks Jim, the Hopalong was my most interesting find of the day even with the silver dime and wheats. Ill see what i can dig today, more treasures i hope.

Thanks Utah, starting to really hit the coins right on, its like any new toy takes some run time to know it best. The first couple days i dug a bunch of iffy targets and it was all junk. I learned really fast to stick with the good VDI numbers and good tones. Yesterday i even pulled a couple pennys out of some junk. It was a tricky pinpoiting with that 10" coil but i got them. One thing i noticed i can sweep the coil slow and short around a coin being masked by iron and still read the coin. I do see a 5.3 coil in the near future for my vision. I put the 5.3 off my DFX on the vision and it worked fine but i need one for each detector for those very trashy areas. HH.

Sorry but L'amour wrote 3 or 4 for books about Cassidy under another name 'TEX BURNS' and after he died his son published some of his dad's cassidy book's under his dads name. Check your book store. One of the books under L'amour was TROUBLE SHOOTER.
