Suggestions for Rock & Water shoes/boots?

OldBeechnut

Got a Old Beach from the late 1800's that has since been buried by time, been there twice and the rocks/bolders are treacherous. Looking for a combination type of water shoe/boot, one that will give me good footing on the rocks, plus do well in a sandy, muck type of conditions in the water. The dry rocks are not to bad, it is the rocks that are wet, and submerged. Not a lot of current, and the water is mostly calm compared to the ocean. Would also possible need a type of sox to help in protecting against some what of a toxic waste from years of septic run off from beach homes over the years. Looking at the NRS HydroSkin Socks, and NRS ATB Feltbottom boots..................Open for any suggestions and Idea's......thanks Joe/Obn

Joe, I have been using "Five Fingers" water shoes by Vibram for years now. They are the best water shoes ever made, in my opinion. The shoes have toes and seem a little strange at first but I garantee you that after using these for a couple of times you'll never want anything else. They allow you to feel the turf your standing on but also provide excellent protection. The bottoms have small sipes/ or slits in them like a geckos foot which gives you unmatched grip. I've used them in the ocean walking across broken shells, in the great lakes walking on zebra mussels, and also on slippery rivers rocks with no problem. They are a bit pricey at around $90. bucks but well worth it! You get what you pay for... Aaron

Joe, Cabelas sells a wadding boot with a Felt -sole,they are made for walking on slippery rocks.I use them in AZ.in the rivers, you don't slip on the rocks. Ron Lord Naples, Fla.

I have not found anything that doesn't slip on green algae covered rocks.

Felt soles are great but its better to have them with a few studs in too, i use them for stream wading when fishing(the studs also slow down the wear of the felt and are usually replacable) A good strong boot will also save the toes on them rocks, only trouble is they will sound off if you get too close with the coil

Thanks Guys, this is what i came up with for the job.......joe

I was going to say maybe an old pair of tennis shoes. But it looks like you found some to do the trick. That place sound good. How do you find a place like that that has not been hunted? Did you find anything there?

I don't have the model #,but you can go to Cabelas.com and look them up your self. The guys at Cabelas say they work real good on green alge rocks.I know they work good in AZ. rivers
