Suggestion for Minelab

My suggestion would be to improve on the pinpoint, it is very hard to pinpoint deep items. somehow enhance the sound for pinpointing so you get a real good sound on the deep ones. harry

According to Andy Sabisch in his book mastering the explorer he says,
quote, the most important difference between detectors with conventional ground balance circuity and the minelab explorer with fbs is the explorers ability to hunt even the most highly mineralized areas at maximum performance without the need to make adjustment's before starting to search. As soon as the explorer is turned on and swept across the ground the ground mineralization is quantified and then simply ignored. Any signal from a target is then easily recognized and analyzed for accurate identification. This ensures that the explorer can locate targets deeper than other units that require compensation for the mineralization. this often adversely affects detection depth and target identification accuracy. This is especially true in areas where mineralization is either extremely high or often changes within a short distance. end quote.
Then he goes on to say it preforms better than detectors with conventional manual or even automatic ground balance circuits the more severe the ground mineralization becomes. it will mirror the results of air tests in the ground.
It seems to work for me, I don't see how you can be losing depth in trashy sites. The explorer does not see targets as ground minerals.

I agree you can't get too locked on the "numbers" or the position of the marker, the sound is the most important thing, but sometimes you have to take a chance and go for those iffy signals, especially those deeper ones, many times the coin is on an angle and you don't get a true reading,or it's a mixed signal, I got a nice walker at 10 inches by taking a chance, made my day.:minelab::detecting::thumbup:

The one thing I would like since we already no the ferrous and conductivity numbers they could load the screen so when you went over a indian head it would say on the screen indian head etc.... for every coin!

Need to have a hard plastic screen with anti glare on the front screen. This would keep the front from scratching and the anti glare would be good for sunlight shining down on the display screen!

Because I wont be buying the 3rd version because I'll still have my Explorer1. I have two advancements that NO ONE yet has mentioned, but I'm not going to tell you. We know there are many things they can do to improve it but if your not going to own one do you want the guys hunting next to you to have that much better of a machine.....No. I'll probably wait til the Explorer6 to come out before I give my 2 cents....but damm I wish it had a cig lighter!!!
