:usaflag:Great tactics Ron. It's good for me to listen to you older guys because I would have been A LOT more vocal with that fat boy. I have'nt been bothered by anyone yet, but I will be prepared. Thanks

Way to set him straight.

:usaflag:Yeah...I could have put "fart" at the end of that...but I'll be 41 this year so..lol.

Five two legged detectors:yikes:

Silence is golden, but ignorance is vocal. It's hard to keep your cool with someone like that, but you handled it in a way that probably made a good impression on those kids and that's what's important. You were very nice to try and explain to those kids about metal detectors, because a lot of people don't try to help kids understand how things like metal detectors work and I bet they will remember your taking up some time with them more than they will the guy making negative remarks. He probably felt threatened because he wasn't the center of attention with those kids and made himself look foolish saying what he did. My Grandpa had a saying for folks like that: " The Guilty Dog Barks First..!!" Him saying you were messing up the park and throwing food wrappers all over the place bears this out. My Grandma had a saying also: When you're pointing one finger at someone else, there's three pointing right back at you. The hardest thing you will ever do is to try and pray for people like that. Take care, Ron.

Don't it pizz a feller off. Should have asked him if he was the field police or just the normal big mouth moron.

Bill

I understand how everyone feels about some loud mouth like the man Ron ran into, but remember we are representing the metal detector community and we need to try and be as diplomatic as possible with ignorant people like that. They just don't know any better and education is our best friend, even when dealing with aggravating idiots. By picking up the complainer's trash and showing those kids who was really messing up their park or ballfield, Ron responded very positively and let the other person's negative attitude and bad manners speak for itself. Good job, Ron. You set an excellent example for those young kids and they will remember how you handled yourself more than any ignorant or negative remarks the other man had to say. Action speaks louder than words.

You handlled it right Ron.
At times a person needs to be shown how stupid they really are. This touchy feelly, don't rock the boat world we have created means idiots can have as much right to speak and say stupid things as "normal" people.
Since when and why????????
Settin him straight by pointing out his sloppyness and not shrinking into a submissive ball needs to happen in this world. Thanks for doing it.

The whole world is getting that way. At Walmart, we're taking down end displays, changing the prices, refilling with another product we have plenty of-then when the refill product comes in in approximately 5 hours we reverse the procedure-instead of just leaving it empy for a few hours. Cleaning crews-maintenance-are called from their usual chores to mopping up dirty spots on the floor that the night floor crew will handle in a few hours. All because some district manager might walk in unexpectedly. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Happened to me more than a few times. A few weeks ago a couple from Norway hinted that I shouldn't be detecting around their grandchildren at a local school. I asked if they lived in the area and they replied that they were visiting from Norway. I was as nice as I could be. I welcomed them to the US. Told them to enjoy all that our great country has to offer. I closed by saying if I ever get back to Norway I would never consider telling a local that his/her hobby was offending me, and that I would appreciate the same treatment from them. So my latest wasn't even from the same continent.

Naturally the kids followed me around and I was happy to show them the ropes even though we didn't speak the same language.

Chris

Why in the world would they not want you to metal detect around their children? If the good Lord had blessed me with children, I'd rather somebody metal detect around them than drink and use profanity. Maybe the new world order is about being some type of control freak or something. Thank goodness, the children with their natural curiosity realized what you were doing was fun and interesting and had some fun hanging out with a positive influence like you instead of sitting around watching tv. Good public relations for our hobby. Great example for those kids, also.
