Strange what happens in one day while on the beach

I will make short and brief as possible started yesterday morning in Ft Lauderdale at sunrise- Beach almost completely cleaned and ready for day. Decided to go to Miami and South Beach Arrive not much out of the norm going on decided to work the water edge as waves and stained water looked like heavy sand. As I walk down the beach a gentleman approaches and ask may I speak with you, My reply whatever it is I am not buying. He advised he was not selling but was with Express clothing and they were there for spring break and wanted to take a picture with me in it. You got to be kidding old geezer with dorky attire in clothing picture. Sure what the heck. A young lady gets on my right and a male model on the left photographer goes to town and we are done. They advise they would be posted on website for view(Which as of moment have not been so) under spring break heading.
Nothing but clad change 1 wheatie 1952 and a Liberty dollar and I decided to head back to Ft Lauderdale for p.m. beach sifting.
As I was working the beach a gentlemen at the life guard shack speaks and I remove headphones. His comment was if you do not dig those bottle caps you will miss small gold rings and nickels. I replied there are so many here i skip them. His reply was if you do not dig them you will not find the rings and nickels. His next response was let me show you some of my finds. He held out hands and they were all garnished with HEAVY GOLD AND DIAMONDS. He then reached in his pocket and brought out many more and chains and grilles it was unreal.
During the conversation he advised he made his first water unit mounted on a hardhat to keep put of the water as no one made them when he started and his pocket had pictures of all his finds. None of them ever sold only a few given away and some returned to the owner when possible..This conversation then turned to I was new and trying to learn to read the beach and water. He made a few comments which will get me started reached in his pocket and handed me a card. His card had all his info for calling anytime to ask questions.
No kidding fifteen yards down the beach after leaving him I found a gold link to bracelet which showed as coin in sound an LED.
I did not have a loot day but the other things from the day sure proved to be a adventurous day for me and a learning day.

DIG ALL SOUNDS IS MY ADVISE-- even some new watches come thru as IRON as I was advised.

Hope you all find as amusing as I did. What a day for a MD'er looking for loot and finding knowledge and modeling in same day.

PS this gentleman was as nice as anyone I have ever had a pleasure to speak with.

Amazing what one can learn when you get what you know out of the way!!

Bet you will have more great finds to tell us about from now on!!

It's a great hobby, I enjoy the encounters I have on the sand whilst partaking.

I'll be looking you up once I get to Florida next week. With a bit of luck we can get some water time in at Pompano or the Treasure Coast.

It takes a day like that every now and then to open your eye not only to the MD'ing side but life in general. I believe all things are either made or meant to be and that day was meant to be.

Thanks all for taking time to read this wacky day.

BDA you have contact info, call when you are heading up or looting south. As you can see I am pretty Mobile 1.5 hrs ft lauderdal .5 Miami .5 Ft Lauderdale 1.5 hrs Home. When you are use to 70,000 plus a year on vehicle that is chump driving.

And any time someone gives you great advice..... well it really cannot get much better than that.
