Here is the EXACT question that was asked:

Then you responded with this:

Any true stereo or mono headset will work plugged into the CTX. The standard line of Gray Ghosts will work in the wireless module, but not in the CTX without one of two pissible modifications (you can make them simulate mono or convert them to stereo--neither of which is a good idea!). You can also replace the 1/4" stereo jack with a 1/4" mono jack. I think they make a pair for the CTX now and if you have the NDTs they should be able to make a cord for you that will work (or you can't buy one and put a mono jack on it).
In an effort to continue providing the members of the CTX 3030 forum
accurate information, I made this post:

martygene, the GG headphones will work in both the CTX 3030 and the wireless module. However, when used "as is" in the CTX 3030, they lack the control lead to shut off the detector's speaker. It doesn't hurt the detector or the headphones to use them that way. But if you want the speaker to be muted when headphones are used, further information regarding modifications and adapters is availble in this forum as well as the CTX Classroom. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Not capable of admitting you made another mistake with your post, you continued with this:

Here's the easy answer I could not find in the archives: the CTX requires either true stereo or true mono headphones. Period.
Now my ol' pappy taught me never to draw on an inside straight, that is of course unless you're holding a joker!
So once again, the correct answer to the
original question is YES, Gray Ghosts CAN be used directly in the CTX 3030 and also in the wireless module. However, as I also said, when used "as is" in the CTX 3030, they lack the control lead to shut off the detector's speaker. It doesn't hurt the detector or the headphones to use them that way. But if you want the speaker to be muted when headphones are used, further information regarding modifications and adapters is availble in this forum as well as the CTX Classroom.
Erik, since you are apparently incapable of utilizing the SEARCH function of these forums, here are some links that fully describe modifications and adapters available to modify some existing headphones, for use on the CTX 3030. (Just as I pointed out above) And (again) contrary to your comments, the last link (from the CTX Classroom) includes Minelab's documentation that clearly states the CTX 3030 is compatible with standard stereo or mono headphones.
