Stock Koss Headphone Issue

Unless of course you consider audio playing in your headphones and thru the detector's external speaker to work  me and my ol' pappy both think this is just plain  unless you want to walk around looking like a

Here's the easy answer I could not find in the archives: the CTX requires either true stereo or true mono headphones. Period.

Now my ol' pappy taught me never to draw on an inside straight, that is of course unless you're holding a joker!

Here is the EXACT question that was asked:

can the Gray Ghosts be used directly in the 3030 and also in the wireless module?

Then you responded with this:

Any true stereo or mono headset will work plugged into the CTX. The standard line of Gray Ghosts will work in the wireless module, but not in the CTX without one of two pissible modifications (you can make them simulate mono or convert them to stereo--neither of which is a good idea!). You can also replace the 1/4" stereo jack with a 1/4" mono jack. I think they make a pair for the CTX now and if you have the NDTs they should be able to make a cord for you that will work (or you can't buy one and put a mono jack on it).

In an effort to continue providing the members of the CTX 3030 forum accurate information, I made this post:

martygene, the GG headphones will work in both the CTX 3030 and the wireless module. However, when used "as is" in the CTX 3030, they lack the control lead to shut off the detector's speaker. It doesn't hurt the detector or the headphones to use them that way. But if you want the speaker to be muted when headphones are used, further information regarding modifications and adapters is availble in this forum as well as the CTX Classroom. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Not capable of admitting you made another mistake with your post, you continued with this:

So once again, the correct answer to the original question is YES, Gray Ghosts CAN be used directly in the CTX 3030 and also in the wireless module. However, as I also said, when used "as is" in the CTX 3030, they lack the control lead to shut off the detector's speaker. It doesn't hurt the detector or the headphones to use them that way. But if you want the speaker to be muted when headphones are used, further information regarding modifications and adapters is availble in this forum as well as the CTX Classroom.

Erik, since you are apparently incapable of utilizing the SEARCH function of these forums, here are some links that fully describe modifications and adapters available to modify some existing headphones, for use on the CTX 3030. (Just as I pointed out above) And (again) contrary to your comments, the last link (from the CTX Classroom) includes Minelab's documentation that clearly states the CTX 3030 is compatible with standard stereo or mono headphones.

I was about to respond to your absurd assertions, but then reason (and a few Amstels) got the better of me. :drinking:

Now my ol' pappy always used to say "Son, when you argue with an  you will never win, better to beat him at cards and take all his money!" :cheekkiss:

The only absurd assertions, as you call them, were yours from this string of posts.

As for Who's on First? I know the A&C routine. But the short answer on here is........ not you. You haven't reached first base since you came on this forum. Its as if you always go to the plate expecting a free pass. But those days are over. No more free passes. Not in this stadium. Right now, it is the top of the ninth, two out and nobody is on. Checking the scorecard, seems I'm ahead 4 - 0 and you're up to bat. (You bat in the top of the innings at this stadium because you are the visitor) As you swagger toward the batter's box, you're wondering......will it be a slow curve or a changeup? You can't think beyond those two pitches because that is, apparently, all you know how to throw. ( by the way, I got all four runs off of your changeup.) I'm thinking..... I can throw anything past you that I want because you have yet to take the bat off of your shoulder, let alone take a decent cut. You and I both know that I've struck you out on fastballs, right down the middle, all day. So here we go.....one last time.......it's the windup..... and the pitch! Strike three! This game is over.

Hmmmm....scoreboard says it's the bottom of the ninth and you got two outs, two strikes, and no.....

Just out of curiosity -- what color is the sky in your world? :lmfao:

One more :drinking: for me and then :goodnight:

"You ain't no daisy at all!"

I know we are not talking about headphones anymore but I have to say , BART came through for me again. Big Boys Hobbies is the place to make sh*t happen. Bart hooked me up with another set of headphones. Thank you my man, thank you!
