Still learning the ins and outs of my AT-Pro

I think because you have a good clean bottle cap not a rusty one in the ground that is why it's behaving like it is. I just got mine back from sending it in to Garrett for the Upgrade as I got a first version one at the begining of last Jan. I did what TGC said and put it in PRO ZERO mode and I could hear all the iron nails in my floor waiving the coil across my carpeted floor. When I turned IRON AUDIO on the sounds stopped so now I think it's just cancelling out the sound from the iron so you don't have to go batty listening to it but it's still getting it as It's in NO DISCRIMINATION set at ZERO so any objects mixed in with iron can be detected and not canceled out from discrimination.

Now when you do run some discrimination in PRO mode like say that 10-20 or more that you mentioned you won't hear it because you have discriminated out up to that spot on the scale till you turn IRON AUDIO ON then what you have discriminated out IRON wise 1-40 will now sound off and may be picking up other objects mixed in with the iron and not discriminating them out because you have just turned IRON AUDIO ON. At least that is the way my machine works I think as I understand it.
The way I take it is you discriminate out what amount of IRON you want then if you want to hear it you turn IRON AUDIO ON to give a listen and it will be running like no discrimination was set. Turn it off and you discriminate up to that point and won't hear anything up to that point on the scale as well.

Maybe John Edmonton can clarify or someone else too.

For Iron audio to work as you describe, it has to have some level of Iron Discrimination in play (a setting other than 00)...If your in Pro Zero with no Iron DISC, and Iron Audio ON, the iron will make a low tone (not the growl)...If you switch iron audio OFF while Iron DISC is at 00, then you get the growl on iron...If you turn Iron DISC to say 35, with iron audio off, you will not hear any iron below 35...iron above 35 will give the low tone...at these same settings with Iron Audio on, you will get the growl on items from 00 to 35, and the low tone for 36-40...
I have begun hunting in Pro Zero with Iron DISC at 00 and Iron Audio ON...this way I hear a low tone on all VDIs from 00 to 40...I let my ears and experience DISC those targets...If my target is in Question I turn OFF Iron Audio and listen to the growl and tone roll audio...
