Started out in Mayberry:biggrin:...but ended up "sitting" in St. Louis.:super:

OUCH!!...I LOST:smoke: :stars:

The last 3 days have sucked an egg and I haven't been online much. I feel like I've been run over by a truck.

Not sure if Dave-IL will chime in or not but I know he appreciates the responses too. He is ready for another road trip.

Nice going Bryce.:clapping: I could have sworn that I replied to your post. I did see it and don't know what the heck I was doing. Must have been having one of my CRS moments. Great job on that old seated dime. I thought mine was old, but you got me beat by 16 years.
Eddie
Thanks old friend. I have plenty of those "moments" myself...but it's just because I'm a little goofy...lol.

Real nice road trip mate. Hope you're feeling a little better by now. Congrats to your hunting pardner too.
Thanks friend. I am getting a little better each day...and am going to try and hunt a little while tomorrow.

WTG bud. One of these days I'll tag along with you. Looks like you've got a great friend to hunt with. Bring him this direction and we'll hit some of our spots here.
Thanks Darrell. He is a good guy. I don't ever have to worry about him putting finds over friendship. We hunt our spots together. PS: is the stagecoach site mowed at all???

NebTrac
Thank you my friend. I'll be watching for your E-Trac posts.

Great digs, nice seated!

Which coil were you using in St Louie?
Thanks Bugg. In St. Louis I was using the SE and the Sunray X-12. I started out in the cornfield with the E-trac/SEF coil...but opted for the SE/X-12 in St. Louis.

WTG Bryce , Congrats on the finds ... Forest Park is a tough place to hunt but everyone can't find it all so thats when knowing what to listen for plays a role in it !!! Great finds and congrats my friend !!!:clapping:
Thanks G-Money. I wish you could have gone with Dave and I but I know you are unable to hunt right now due to injury. After you get healed up...we'll pound some ground.

Another great day enjoying the friendship of a fellow detectorist and making nice finds to boot! Congratulations to you both! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks friend. The friendship makes it that much more special for us. We neither one care which one of us finds what...it's all about the fun.

Just how big is that place? After reading what Mike has pulled out of there, and then to see more and more keep coming! Outstanding.
Got me to thinking too - if a park gets say, 100,000 visitors a year, and just one person in 1000 loses a coin (1%), that's 100 coins lost per year. Over 100 years, that's 10,000 lost coins. Then if you assume detectorists have recovered 200 a year for the last 30 years (or 6,000), that would mean there's still 4,000 coins left to find. And those are conservative numbers - some parks get way more visitors per yer, and there are probably more than 100 coins lost per year - way more. But then there's also how many are undetectable due to depth, trash, etc to further cut it down. Given the numbers though, sure seems like parks remain favorable to keep hunting just due to the odds. These finds from this park I think demonstrate that well!
I keep thinking those hits that null at 90 degrees are rusty nails, even though they sound good at one angle. You're finding that's not always the case and are recovering them? If I get a hint of a signal surviving the 90 degree turn (or along the way), I get my hopes up, but maybe I should check more of them.
Excellent finds, thanks for sharing.
HH,
DirtFlipper
Thanks D-Flip. This place is absolutely huge and was home to the Worlds Fair 100 or so years ago. It is a very tough place to hunt but has been kind to me in the trips I've made there. My first few trips there were with a feller' named "GOLDDIGGER"...one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet...and he took me all around the place and hunted with me. One day he and I met up with Mike there and Mike was kind enough to show us a couple spots he had had some luck at.
As for the iron...the only way to know is to give them a shot. I just have a certain sound I listen for...even through a dead null. Sometimes I'm rewarded with EXACTLY what you see in the pic with the coin next to iron. Other times...well...it's just iron.

Since I have not been out in over a month due to my never ending work load. I have not had work like this in over a year. I'm working every minute I can spare just to get my head above water. Man that corn field looks sweet. Good goin my Friend. GR
Thanks G.R.....I hope you're able to find some hunt time. i know what it's like trying to keep your head above water. Keep on pluggin' along my friend.

Nice finds and a fun time I'm sure. Be safe in those parks.
Thanks Mark. Actually Forest Park is one of the safer ones i frequent in St. Louis.

HAHAHAHA Between Dave's hat and your shoes you guys are cracking me up..:buds: Great post and sweet finds brother!!! I need to get out.. I think I might have forgotten how to turn my machine on :) take care and hope you get out again soon!
Derrell
Thanks DoubleD. I figured you'd appreciate the Gucci loafers and the tie-dye shirt in the middle of a corn field. As for Dave's hat...well that speaks for itself.

Nice hunt Bryce and thanks for taking us along
with you guys. The pics were great and the story
was well done. How do you concentrate on signals
with the thought of being mugged in the back of your
mind? That would be tuff I would think. :punch:
Gold Nuggets :wiggle:
Thanks GN. Actually Forest Park isn't bad compared to a couple of the other parks I've hunted there. It's those others that i will not hunt unless there are at least 4 of us. it just isn't worth risking your life for. It takes all the fun out of it...and a person simply can't concentrate.

Great post Bryce !! You paint a great picture of the "thrill" of the hunt - and that's really what it's all about. Great finds are exciting but it's going off to the next
one that is the thrill !
Bruce in Ct
Thanks Bruce. You are exactly right. A good friend anmd the thrill of what might pop out next is what it's all about for me.

It was a lot of fun buddy. Maybe next time we can take a couple of friends along and hunt some of the "not so safe" parks. Even if we don't find anything it would be fun.
Dave we definitely will. G-Money wants to go as soon as he gets to feeling better.

Ive only been at this for a few months now and it is really a lot of fun. Not sure what I'll do this winter but I think I will keep hunting as long as the ground lets me.

Dave you are welcome to head this way with Bryce anytime. I can alays find us a few sites to keep you two busy for an afternoon. We always have fun.
WTG on your finds both of you.
