Squashing rumors!

Now that description of hunting with your friend and his duct taped Amigo.... really rings true. I can just see it. Good testimonial.

 I was following a guy who was using a Garrett 2500 at an old house. He was finding the usual clad and found an old pocket watch that was about a foot deep. My friend saw me digging silver quarters and dimes right behind him and he got so upset that he never asked me to go hunting with him again. I was using a Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 at the time. As they all say,..."It's not always the detector but it's how the operator uses it". I know for sure that any and all of the Tesoros can do the same thing.:detecting:

I came across this older thread as I was "searching" for anything on the Forum to read about the Golden uMax, as this is the detector I want now after reading many, many reviews. Nathan from Tesoro started this thread back in August of '13 and still there is no news or re-release of the Golden, five months later. Whatever they do to "fix" the problem (which, judging by the delay must be bigger than they are letting on), I hope it still has that awesome adjustable notch feature as well as how the notch adjust changes the tones on lower freq targets even with the notch toggle on "off."

I think I am going to start looking for a new in the box Golden with new tones (from left over dealer stocks), but in the mean time, PLEASE Tesoro, how about some news on the uMax?

I would guess the 2014 new model, what ever they call it will have multi tones? EL Golden Cazador?

Quote- "Tesoro Electronics does not, I repeat, does not present this industry with a new unit every six months for the reason most of you understand already. Most new metal detectors are just that a mocked up previous version of the same machines. New knob here, new color for the screen there, with no real change in behavior or operational status."

I'm sorry but isn't that what the Outlaw is? You basically brought back an older machine with only a name change. Not hating just an observation.

THANK YOU NATHEN... KEN

There is a lot of sense being spoken here regarding new models coming out all the time.Like many have already said, why bring out new models all the time if the old ones work well anyway. The answer is easy really, clever marketing means that many detectorists can be convinced that even a coloured lcd screen can improve their finds rates.....it's ridiculous.Every little gimmick that comes out has people reaching for their wallets because they think they need the latest program or gadget to make them successful.
Tesoro detectors sell their detectors with the promise of good solid performance and that's what they deliver. The most useful gadget with these detectors is the detectorist themselves. When you have a detector that provides good depth and good target seperation it is up to the user to get the most out of it by tweaking it to the conditions they are searching in.You do not need programs to do this, just knobs and switches and a bit of know how.
I take my hat off to tesoro because they have'nt jumped on the gimmick bandwagon just to gain sales.......they could have and they would no doubt gain from it....they just stick to what they know works and offer the detectorist great value, effective detecting tools.
It is easy for a manufacturer to make money out of gimmicks because idiots like us keep buying the latest gadget filled wonder model to hit the market. While we keep doing this, technology does'nt need to move on......manufacturers are quite happy to make money out of technology that does'nt take much research and development such as colour screens etc......we need to say we want something that will make a difference to our finds rate.
Tesoro could quite easily do the same thing if they wanted, add a useless feature here and there to increase sales, but to give the detectorist good value they don't.It amazes me how many detectorists buy the latest high tech machine and are convinced it's the best thing they have ever used........then soon after they are selling it to get the next one that comes along.
Well done Tesoro for sticking to your philosophy of providing no fuss high performance in a detector that is light enough to swing all day with little effort.

I am very glad to hear the Golden is not being discontinued. I will wait for production to start again. In the meantime, I bought a Eurotek Pro to hold me over. It has the closest features in the Golden that I liked, but not sure yet how well it will do on bottlecaps.
