Sov to the beach in AM mode !!

Rick(ND) said:
Yes I do run the volume all the way up as most dont know this is target volume as the threshold stays the same so some think being the threshold dont change the volume makes no difference where it is set, but max is what is recomended. I do use Headphone which I find the Timberwolfs are the loudest for the Sovereign after trying many differnt ones and find I can hear coins that are very deep in disc only and not in all metal pinpoint onmy older Sovereigns. Now I have the GT and never tried the track or lock, but in the pinpoint all metal I find disc is much deeper then all metal.
I run my GT in disc with the notch and disc turned off so only iron is rejected and have the iron mask on so I can hear the good targets close to iron so I do get a little more falsing but found a way to tell 85% of the iron falses. I also run a threshold so I can hear any tone changes and the sensitivity between 10-11 and sometimes at 9 which is maxed, but have to go a bit slower too. My deepest coin with both the Sovereign and the Explorers were with the Sun Ray 12 inch coil been between 13-14 inches deep and with Sovereign gave no signal in all metal as it was around a very old merry go round, but could hear that slight tone change. It could be the ground causing this because of all the trash in these old Parks. The one that really shocked me with the 8 inch coinsearch coil getting dimes and pennies that were 11-12 inches deep that I had to go super slow and only could hear the tone change. All metal pinpoint is not for me, but some do like it and if it does good for you that is great. It could be my hearing too as the tones are so much easier to hear for me than the threshold tone getting slightly higer volume.

Hey Rick,

So when you say your in disc mode and only hear the tone change, do you mean just a threshold change, but not a repeatable signal (even with the wiggle)?

I know Haryo has been cleaning up in old parks with the big coil on his Sov. I mainly use the Sunray 12" for the beach, and the 8" Coinsearch for turf hunting, but I want to try the Sunray 12" for old park hunting, just not sure how it will do with trash and iron being so large (I believe it's actually a 12.5" coil, that's a big coil).

Brian
