It's the DD coil. They love bottlecaps, just the nature of the beast. Don't know why Don Dykstra doidn't design that part out of them but he didn't.

I HAVE MENTIONED BEFORE THAT I JUMP THE GUN AND FOR GET TO CHECK. AFTER DIGGING PENNY AFTER PENNY I SOMETIMES JUST DIG. " O SH-- NOT ANOTHER TWIST CAP FULL OF MUD". LOL.
ANYWAY THE COIN TO TRASH RATIO IS VERY HIGH, THE NICKLE COUNT IS UP AND 4 PIECES OF JEWELRY ( I HAVE NOT BEEN COUNTING THE SMALLEST SILVER EVER). I WAS FINDING BBs AND THEN I FOUND THE SMALLEST SIVER HEART. I HAVE FOUND CHARMS BEFORE BUT THIS ONE IS DINKY.

I read an article a while back , and if it were not for people leaving trash around archeologists would have a hard time dealing with the history of time !!......People back in the day were actually worse slobs than we are today ....They did not have waste can's/baskets set out in Parks back in the day ....People would litter at will because they had no place to throw their garbage .... Some folks think that its STILL that way today ..... Anyway, you kinda have to think about things this way .......If you don't find trash , then there have not been that many people there .....If not that many people have been there , then your odds of finding any good finds are not as good ..... Be thankful for trssh !!.....Trash was put there by people , and people sit down, or lay down , or play sports, or do whatever in parks ......They bring money with them !!.....They loose money !!......Good for us !!...... It depends on the area. In real trashy areas, like most parks, I do not even dig the pull tab signals. I know I could be missing some Jewelry but at some spots there are tons of signals in the pull tab range. If I am in a less trashy area and have plenty of time I may dig them. If I was at a fresh water beach I would dig every signal. So yes, I think I would dig a lot more pull tabs (if I dug the pulltab signals) than bottlecaps but the bottlecaps come in as a coin where the pulltabs don't.

Yes I agree, lot more pull tabs, and on the sad side of that, they have closed some parks around here because people leave so much trash and tired of cleaning it up.

NYC has really gotten a lot cleaner over the years ......We are not a people who won't say anyting to people who litter .....I remember one time this guy threw something on the ground and I went and picked it up and gave it back to him and said " here , you dropped this " .......he said " oh no, it was garbage" ...so I said , " So put it in the garbage can over there " as I pointed to the garbage can ..... He looked at me like I was crazy !!......How did he know ? .....Hmmmmmmm....... Jim
