Some Have Said The Outlaw Has A Touchy Ground Balance

Some Have Said The Outlaw Has A Touchy Ground Balance,

Out for a short hunt today and I mean short, it started pouring rain. I did not find the new Outlaw hard or touchy to balance at all. Small moves positive or negative as needed and the detector balanced right up nice smooth easy and quick. I think some of the guys complaining are just over working the ground balance knob.

Recreational alchohol and drugs usein your youth years; tend to effect your cordination in later years!!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL

in mild soil no its not touchy , but if the ground get mineralized it then gets kinda hair trigger , but its not really a big deal a little + or- minus is not a problem

Our ground out here is pretty mineralized but like you said I really did not find it a big deal.

You may all think I am crazy, and I never mentioned this before for that fact only but here goes anyway. Look at 53 silvers video as he balances his outlaw. He could turn 90 degrees on the dial and it was NOT touchy at all. Mine WAS like this when I bought it as well. Very wide adjustment on the dial. Now it all happens within 1/16" turn either left or right. That is why I say lots of bugs with this machine. Some think i'm picking on Tesoro, and not at all. In fact, I still love it for it's weight and sensitivity to gold. I just call it like I see it. Over at the Geo forum, someone mentioned a quirk where the Outlaw "LOCK" onto targets in Motion DISC when the button is pushed. This is what I experience as well. I don't want to rant, but there are many bugs to work out on this model.

If you feel your Outlaw is no longer performing correctly send it back to Tesoro and have it tuned up or checked out, could just be a bad pot on your GB knob (maybe you have already done this??) I am sure they will resolve the issue if it is faulty. If you do not send it to have it checked out and you remain un-happy with it this is not Tesoro's fault. Give them a chance to fix it or check it out to see if there is a problem. If the problem then still remains you you have a issue and then should complain about it to high heaven. Detectors are not cheap and should work correctly especially when new.

I agree, out of all the tesoro's I've had the Outlaw is by far my favorite. Ground balances fine and gives a real smooth response on coins, very good in the iron. I love it around the old cellar holes. It's found me some real nice old colonial coins this year. I've just been a real slacker this year when it comes to posting.

The ground balance on my Outlaw works just fine.

I'm absolutely in love with the audio response on the Outlaw. It's so smooth and easy to listen to.

Like I've stated before, the Outlaw works great at iron laden sites.

This is all good news tabman... So far with my short time with the new Outlaw I agree about the audio and the GB is fine on mine like I stated above and adjust nice and smooth. I hunt in a lot of iron trash infested areas myself so I look forward to the Outlaw working well in iron laden sites. My maiden voyage with the Outlaw got cut short due to a big rain down poor. Now I got to weight for another day off (working 12hr shifts no daylight left after the work day, bummer Lol)

She will go back again after i'm done with the nail board test. Just bummed so many issues with this outlaw line. Many of the very first ones seem to be problematic. Maybe they have since corrected these issues? she will take a trip to the factory for a second time next week.

It sounds like you just have a bad one, hopefully they can replace the box with the new model, i have had mine for about four months now and not experencing any of the problems mentioned on this forum.

Mine gbs out great and love the tone . I have at least 100 hours on it now and is like my Sand Shark that i have had and used a lot for two years, just real reliable.

I hit a silver necklace last Friday at a park that was down about six inch and it hit hard, i thought it might be a fifty cent piece at first because it hit so hard.

The F5 i have is a good machine but this Outlaw has stolen my Heart!!

I hope they get it right too. I don't think it's been right since new and still not right even after a trip back once.

What did the service department determine was wrong with the detector when you sent it in for repairs?

Presently what problems are you having with the detector?

Do you still have your Outlaw up for sale? If so, how much are you asking for it?

Hey Digger, the F5 and Outlaw were the two machines I started this hobby with. I will likely own them both again, but I too liked hunting with the Outlaw better. Not a better machine necessarily, I just liked the sound, balance and language of the Outlaw a bit more.

It stinks Tab. I do enjoy swinging the girl. I really want to think it's truly just me, but it's not. I really think it's a main board type of issue. They said faulty toggle switch. But it's doing all the same weird stuff again. How can it hit a tab in the ground at 6" while disc is maxed, not even register a merc at 6", but then disc then tab when it's out of the ground? It's constantly overloading again too. All this weird stuff happens when I mess with either the retune button or the toggle switch. If I leave it alone, it's fine, other than the 1/16" gb adjustment. I really think I just got one with a bad board or something. Just too many weird things happening at random times. It's Light, it's fun, it hits on gold like a magnet, I just think think mine is bad. I don't think after it's first trip bad it was ever fully diagnosed. Just google "Tesoro Outlaw problems", you will see that I am far from the only one having these weird issues with it. Over at the Geo forum those boys are pretty intelligent electronics wizards and they believe there is a glitch in the design, or maybe early production ones anyway. It will go back next week. Once it comes back I really hope she is fixed. I will give her an honest run again. I'm an honest guy, there is no other way in my life. I don't come here to knock any model or brand so don't want anyone thinking i'm bashing that's all.. see the video--------->>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cOPLGVysNY

This is really bizarre; I've had a couple of disappearing signals with my Outlaw but I haven't had it very long at all. I certainly haven't experienced anything like what you do in your vid. I'd send it back too.

Also, I think anyone who has followed your posts should know you're a straight shooter.

You should call and talk to Vince. Let him know the problems you are having. I bought a used Cortes off a dealer a few years back and it had some serious issues. I called and talked to James (actually he called me back) and we discussed it for a while. When I got it back it was a beast. I still kick myself for selling it. One of the best detectors I ever had.

By the way, my wife has forbidden me from selling any of my Tesoros for my own good.

So sorry Idxpro,

....This "test" is very flawed, freshly buried targets never respond like the real deal, like when you find a coin that has lain in the same position for many years.
The way you tossed the dime in the hole and covered it up, the dime may have been tilted or even on edge at six inches deep, I'd bet a Minelab Explorer would not have responded to that dime either.

I had an Explorer ll and they do not like disturbed soil as in what you did with the buried dime. I used my Explorer on plowed fields and it stunk, now in a private home front yard it was pretty darn deep. Also on the pultab test, with the freshly dug hole and a very conductive piece of aluminum, it might have affected your ground balance causing it to false on the pulltab even with a high disc. setting.

I have a coin and junk garden that is about 15 years old and I have silver coins from 6 inches( dimes) 8 inches (quarters) to over a foot deep (dollars) and my Tesoros will pick up all the coins and they ID correct on my Target ID machines. This garden was carefully planted back when I owned a White's XLT (1990's) and my wife owned a Toltec ll and believe it or not the Toltec ll out performed the XLT on some trash masked coins.

In closing, I'm not trying to be mean or put down your little test, but try to do the test on a real world target or find someone with a time tested coin garden.
