After over 18yrs at the same company I'm getting let go. They have to give me a 60 day notice, and I haven't received it yet so I'm good for at least 8 more weeks. It's stinks at what they are doing. They are getting rid of full time people and keeping the temporary workers that are there right now. Just doesn't seem right as to what they are doing to us. At least I will get a severance package of about $15,000.00 but that won't go far. The Federal Government has a TRA package available that I am going to take which includes 2yrs unemployment and 2yrs schooling. Hey Craig you need a mechanic? I can work on anything :) Heck I can even drive circles around Bean :clapping: and take over top dog hilo driver. My wife is still waiting to get into her radiology program at college. We'll see what happens and I'll keep ya updated on whats going on.

... a company the plans to stay in business would keep P/T and rid all F/T. Sounds like they may plan to close up. If that's the case, you got / will get a real good deal.

your right Ed. Alot of our business is out of the U.S right now. The market is growing booming overseas. Why build it here and ship it way over there when they can build it there and not pay the big freight. I think they have a big plan to move it and just are not telling us.

And you're right, $15,000 doesn't last long. But I'm sure there's a silver lining around this black cloud, and you could very well end up happier, and more content, than you've ever been.

Smart move, asking Bubba for a job, he seems to be pulling the best people from around the country down to Alabama... and the work is so simple, even a caveman could do it. From what I know about Bubba's company, sounds more like he could use a full time fireman than a mechanic, do you remember when his fork life caught on fire?

Wishing you and your family the best of luck. Layoff's not what you want to hear around Christmas time.

Or is it just piss poor management? We were owned by Herman Miller for a while and the ass clowns they sent in to run the operation sucked. The money they were throwing around on stupid ideas was amazing.Of course the bottom line was effected and we seamed to be losing money when our sales were good.I have been there with the so called big guys and it stunk.Sorry again about what is happening.

Take care John.

stuff keeps breaking down even after you fix it, hahaha

Come on bubba, you need a good mechanic that can work on anything and Don can work on anything, he is that good. You need to spend more time in the office doing office stuff anyway and saleing more pallets, Jr can handle the mechanic stuff and free you up to keep the pallets coming. Don is a wiz when it comes to mechanic's on anything, think about it bubba, you and Miss Vickie can be away from the yard snow sking in Wisconsin :yo:.

Your a good mechanic bubba but Jr can do it all, weld, rebuild motors, keep your machines running and most of all keep your trucks running, come'on Craig, bring him in for a inter view
