Depress gb button and hold. Turn on bug. Number will display. Bugs without vco audio display the number one. Mine is perfect. The number is 29.

# 29 ....Bought it 8/21/10...... Mine just had the SE Sticker on the box. Wonder about serial ## progression? Mine is 05102035, located in the battery compartment..Hot as a pistol:thumbup:

and I LOVE its performance!!

Mine is a 29 and killer machine!

My serial# is 05102372.

By the way....my F75 coils (11in DD, 5 in round & 3x6 in) work perfectly on my unit.

2.9 is a great number Frank. There the real deal, super hot. My friend just got a new SE with a 1. Does not have the all important VCO audio. A real bummer for him. What is not cool is in the battery compartment he has a sticker on top of a sticker. Looks like a switch a roo. Hope he can get this resolved. Not sure I like being a guinea pig.

Latest update.

Yes they do.

Doesnt that mean it was made 05/2010 first four numbers on the ser#.

My gold Bug Pro will be here Tuesday.

What shoud the # read?

I do not think their is much of a difference between 2.9 and 3 When I got my machine back from FT a few weeks ago it had the 3 load in it Thanks DetectorGuru for letting us know about that. The only thing that I have a question about is the machine ground balances about 10 to 12 points higher than my F5. It was the same before I had to send it off FT for a bit of a fix. I hunted with it for two hours today and am very pleased with the results. I would like to get the 11 inch when I go to Florida and was wondering how the balance is with it. My F5 is slightly top heavy with the 11 inch installed any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Bob

The Pro version. Version 1 is similar to the Cabela's version as I have a Cabela's and it is a 1 version. I think the 2.9 is the improved SE version. I tested a version prior to that but it ended up having an issue...which is what Keith Southern had on that fluky SE.
So 2.9 or 3 is great. 1 is fine if you want unmodulated audio but puky if you don't.....depth is great on that version but it is a bit noisier.
I just got back my SE box from Fisher today and it was version 3. It is as deep as my Cabela's version now. But no worries for most of you as I had an older fluky version which was why I sent mine in...it was NOT 2.9 but an older test version they sent me.
Again...2.9 or 3 either one is as good as the other...so no need to worry between the two.

because FT will not fix them... they say there's nothing wrong with them.....Reason being is the new GB standard is a 499.00 machine with no VCO audio and it also looses the manual Ground balance ...Just grab only... So the last SE's got the non VCO part of the package....Hey what do you want for 499.00?

Now I hear there's a GB-DP coming? What is this? Dual Processor/ Dual purpose?:stars:

New line up GB standard and GB DP ... That Pros decal looks too Gimmicky anyway the way they wrote it...Looks like a one of those High Energy drink Can's:spin:

Seems the final G2 will run like the 29 GBSE so it should be a good un and it says G2 on the start up screen instead of the proto ones that said Gold Bug...

Keith it is a shame that First Texas can make some of the best [new technology] on the market
only to confuse people with delays of a release . A name change or a different version of a model.
This hurts new sales as well as resale value.
Not that i will sell my bug any time soon.:bouncy::bouncy:

It was one I just purchased used from Keith Southern a short while ago; what a great guy to deal with! Checked it out mine reads 29, and as Keith mentioned in the deal, "it's one of the good ones" and he's a man of his word. I had it out for about an hour today, works great on Canadian clad very much like the X5 did, now to find some Gold. On the downside of things we are suppossed to get snow tonight here in Alberta, Canada.....
