what a tungsten ring :lmfao:

I would have gave it to her and wished her good luck and went on my merry way :buds:

people are nosey aren't they because I have a detector they some how have permission to enter my space , I am getting some polite T-shirts made that explain "I don't want to talk to you" :punch:

PS. I find there are some nice people out there but it seems there are more and more dicks around and best they stay away from me if they wish to inflict their will on me its not going to pleasant for them.

Same here some people can be D$*KS had a guy come out of his "summer house" to say to me I have to be below the high tide line! said to him you got anything else better to do than bother us?
He obviously had nothing better to do than give us crap!
Then one day I found a new cell phone working fine approached a park ranger handed the phone over to him and his response was "you know you have to stay below the high tide line"
screw you!
Then I had a chat with a nice lady and talked to her for 15 minutes and gave her two kids some change I was finding and a toy car.
And she was very nice.

When I first started hunting I was so grieved by guilt when I could not find the owners of the dimes and quarters I found. Knowing the public does not value pennies I felt alright about keeping them, but the quarters and dimes kept me awake at night, but a funny thing happened. I started asking people in the parks if they had lost any quarters or dimes and it was amazing how many people were so thankful I had found their lost quarters and dimes. In fact one guy told me that all the dimes and quarters I had in my pouch were his. I went home with an empty change bag but wow, so free of guilt. What a wonderful day that was. Then I found a gold ring -- a gold ring -- a precious gold ring -- my heart pumped, my mind twisted like a wet rag and my detector began talking to me. I looked around making sure no one would see me tucking MY gold ring into a special place. Suddenly a voice boomed, "Watcha got there?" Nearly jumped out of my skin, "Ah, bottle cap, a bottle cap, only a bottle cap -- lots of junk, he, he, he." I ran home. I was hesitant in showing it my wife but I did. Looking closely she said, "This is not real gold." Huh? I put my detector away, after I duck taped its portal (battery compartment) shut. A friend called up and wanted to go hunt with me and I told him my story and he said, "Hey, Dan (maybe he said, "stupid"), anyway, "Hey, stupid, if they wanted those quarters and dimes they would not have lost them." Hum, that made sense, so I retrieved my F70 and withing a year had paid for it -- only hobby I have ever had that paid me back. I do pray for forgiveness every night, though.

I like that story thanks for sharing, I went through something similar with my 1st silver ring and I had to make up my mind then and there about any guilty feelings either give detecting away or the guilty feelings, I latter realized that I work my a$$ off for everything I find and its mine, tabs and all so..

I ask them if they want their pulltabs back  they never do !!

so if anyone asks I am doing community service

Love that replay, thanks amberjack -- you hit the nail right on the head -- you are so right, metal detecting is work, hard work -- walking miles, bending, stooping, digging, warding of the occasional dog (or person). And you are so right about Park Duty clean up. Now I actually feel under paid. Minimum wage should have a Metal Detectorist clause. Thanks again for your excellent advice, view -- you must be a R

The proper answer is: " My wife lost her wedding band her yesterday, she will be so happy I found it." This also works if someone is asking why you are detecting.

 yep & thanks ..just to add this that person who comes up with the Holier Than Thou attitude about what I should be doing I can guarantee I am picking up their rubbish, the phase "no good deed goes unpunished" comes to mind..
I do my best to not make eye contact as that gives the "walker" permission to come harass me and I made a decision that no one has the right to enter my space and then abuse me ever again, and my 1st action is to turn my back and walk away and if they come at me again I will pull my ph and let them know I am calling the police as you are making threating advances and I feel threatened.

I have rights as a human being and one those is to live in peace I do not go and harass others and I deserve the same treatment  in fact I demand it :wiggle:

anyway this is how I approach aggressive people and thankfully they are few and walking away is always the 1st plan.
