Smoking new detector!:smoke:

were you from in ont minimum is now 10.25 and good luck on getting the new machine, the dealers on the canadian metal detector forum have the at pro international model listed for 599

There is no "best detector" it comes down to personal choice and how the features and ergonomics fit your personal preferences. That said, I think the AT Pro is an outstanding choice and one worth your consideration. It is easy to operate and matches the features and abilities of detectors that cost a lot more. I have used a GTI-2500 for the past 15 years and purchased an AT Pro in early December. I have been out with it five times and I really like it. It is light weight, offers great depth detection and the features are all I ask of a detector. My outings have included a trashy site, several fields and two wooded areas. I hope to get out to a beach sometime in March or April. Lastly the AT Pro comes from Garrett and they have backed their detectors for a very long time. I am not saying the AT Pro is the "best detector", but if you get one I am confident you will be happy with your decision.

Good luck!

I completely agree. There are any number of detectors out there that will find as much if not more than you want to dig. All of these detectors have their differences and it is up to you to find the one that suits you the best. You may wind up going through a few before you find that one that really "fits" but in the meantime you will still be able to find lots of goodies. I tend not to be a "gear head" and just go with what works.

Good Luck

Jerry

Good luck with quitting. After 11 days you probably have most of the physical symptoms licked. The psychological ones are the toughies now. Keep at it. Take little steps. It's just like treasure hunting, you know? Slow and steady always wins.

Thank you everybody! This is such a good forum, everybody here is so friendly and helpful.

The quitting smoking is going decently...today was hard because I was around smokers all day at work (first day back at work in 2 weeks). I did manage to NOT smoke again today so I'm happy. ( day 12 woohoo).

I am listening closely to all the comments and suggestions about the different detectors being discussed for my situation. I appreciate all the input from everybody. The one piece of advice I can't take is "go to your local dealer and try a few out". I wish I could do that, but the nearest place that carries a full line of detectors is more than a few hrs away lol. I am ordering from Kellyco based on the info/videos I see on the internet, and of course the information I get from the experienced folks here on findmall.

I haven't decided for sure yet, but I think I'm leaning toward the AT Pro. I like Garrett, and I like the way it operates and sounds. The E-Trac seems foreign to me, yet I believe it is a great machine as well. Being that they are both VLF detectors, I heard the overall performance will be similar as long as you know how to operate them? Anyway I watched the videos by Vaughn Garrett again, and the AT Pro might be the right one for me.

Thanks again........Mike

Man I just cant rap my ears around those minelab tones...sounds like someone learning how to play a flute!

He had a Propointer though!

Alan

Bearkat, I agree with you about the Minelab tones. I guess it's just a matter of putting in the time and learning it. When I had to borrow my brother's Teknetics Gamma for a couple weeks this summer, I really didn't like it, it didn't "feel right" compared to my GTaX550...BUT after a few days of using the Gamma it found me a Merc and a 1912 Canadian dime! I still prefer my Garrett, but I had to appreciate that I did in fact find cool stuff with another detector.

I think I'm deciding on the AT Pro, but this :yikes: IT'S COMING :yikes: post from john-edmonton has me curious. Is there yet another Garrett detector coming out soon? That would be so cool if there was!

Anyway, today is no smoking for 2 whole weeks...I seriously NEVER thought I could do it!

If I had to get rid of all my detectors and keep just one it would be the Excalibur II cause I like to water hunt.
If I could keep two the E-trac would be next.

The AT PRO is gaining my favor but I haven't had it in the water yet.
Will have a better opinion about it this summer.
It is possible it could replace the Excalibur II.
