The next time I get that idea of dig everything, I want someone to kick me in the butt. I dug a lot of trash for no more good things that I found. The ground here was just to hard... KEN

Ha! Know what you mean! This am I went out with the Compadre set low and couldn't even see some of the tiny targets. Some I did see were aluminum rivets that I had to strain to see. But I did find two rings- one heavy silver and the other gold plated.

I've never understood those people with the patients to "dig it all". Now in a tot lot I can understand but in a park? I could dig all day and never mover more than 5' LOL.

:surrender:Depending on the site sometimes I start out with a "dig it all" approach but I may change my mind later. Ha! I truly understand what you're saying and this is one of the reasons an area is never truly hunted out! That old saying of swinging from different angles can at times play a big part in making possible finds. We probably all at times have hunted places where a screen sifter and shovel would have produced more finds than a metal detector because of extreme masking issues.

First and foremost Ken just wanted to add that's a nice find:)

I WAS in a tot lot with not that many signals and I STILL lost patience!

Depends on the place . Some areas I use minimum discrimination and dig almost everything . I like too hear those faint signals that slowly fade away when the disc knob is thumbed up . I have found a bunch of old coins that way . Other places I'm heavy on the discrimination . A place yesterday ,I couldnt even ground balance the Vaquero . I'm glad they put those knobs on the machines so a person can detect the way they want . LOL
