Single Ring Bullet?

I just found this bullet and was wanting to know if it is a single ring bullet? I found this bullet at a home that was built in 1912. Thanks

I am just looking at the level of oxidation. The dished base shows it to be a factory made bullet also in addition to the rolled cannalure. l would guess 1880s.

Not sure if it would be called a single ring bullet, but it is an old one.
I believe the ring is the crimp mark.
I found one similar to it some years ago.. not sure what caliber it is.
Keep trying that that site!!

The ring is indeed for the crimp of the cartridge case. No lube grooves like a more modern smokeless powders round. That bullet is from a black powder rifle cartridge that had a grease cookie under the bullet for lube.

Hi Ronstar yes it was down about 9 inches. Yeah I would say .22 caliber. Do you know if that was common for the time period? Thank you.

It looks to me like a modern .32 or .38 caliber round nose. .22 bullets have a smaller heel than the bore riding part, that is the base is the same diameter as the inside of the brass but the bore riding part is the same as the outside of the brass. Most older calibers were similar. Look up heeled bullets. Measurements would help but discolored lead, not so much. I've seen white lead showing on spent jacketed bullets here.
