Simplex is a much better value, that is updateable if needed. It’s audio is light years ahead of the Apex. A simple detector with many advanced high end features ! Waterproof ....... just plain beats the Apex and cost less ...... a no brainer !!! Simplex all day long !!!!!!I am wanting an updated backup detector. I got a Whites M6 that is my main detector and a Fisher F5 as a backup. Would the Simplex+ or the Garrett Apex be good in y'alls opinion?
The Apex will crush the Simplex on the beach because the Apex is multi- frequency.Simplex is a very good machine. I love the build quality of the Makro products. That said, an Apex will crush a Simplex on a saltwater beach. Apex has a lot more settings.
Yep, and it has more single frequencies than the Simplex. It can just do more. The Apex will crush the Simplex on the beach because the Apex is multi- frequency.
Any multi-frequency detector will out preform a single- frequency detector in salt.
Since when did more settings back a detector better??Your at the beach and you drop the detector in the water by accident.......simplex keeps on going and the Apex goes to the graveyard !!! That’s the truth !!! Garrett is sporting a very problematic detector, with poor performance!Simplex is a very good machine. I love the build quality of the Makro products. My friend had a simplex and detected with me on a saltwater beach with lots of purple sand he sold it after seeing what the equinox was like .Pretty interesting (sometimes boring) NOX vs Simplex in salt water. Even if you don't watch the whole video, the summary print at the end, says a lot.
Not defending the Simplex as I don't have one, but there is a fair amount of $$$ difference between the two. If one only gets to the beach a couple of times a year, a water proof Simplex might be good enough?
