I just got done digging trash under a bleachers and came up with nothing but pulls and bolts,& foils but on my way back i stopped and wanted to detect an off the wall spot the spot is far from any old buildings so i never would have thought to check it for old coins i had it in Disc mode , with the disc all the way back and it was working very well bottle caps sound good until you get off center then they break but i dug them anyway and some nails , I was also finding can slaw from a chewed up can and it can sound scruffy , then i got a sound of something i figured for just another piece of can slaw and the pinpointed did not sound on it that told me it was deep . so i dug down about 6" and got a good hit with the pinpointer , and i was hitting it with the lesch , because i figured it was junk but i could not get it out so i reached my hand down the narrow hole and felt a coin and thinking it was modern clade i noticed it was way to green well it turned out to be an 1886 indian head penny . but what is going on is the fill in this spot is top soil from an old part of town and was moved in so now i know a secret spot to find silver .

Gunnar, thats a very nice find and well done for finding a potential new hunting site.

I found out its a hard to find date 1886 it is a type 1 the type 2 is even more scarce its worth about 4 bucks if it was in better shape it would be worth about 35

Awesome find! I have only found 3 IH's and none in last 2 years. Congrats!

been a long time since a decent coin was posted on this forum.....WTG!

Excellent find!! Fine detecting... Happy Trails.....Z

I think i will take the new 8x11 to the spot and see how it does, as it is just about right for the job . I have to say the silver Umax is a great machine of all i have tried i like it the best so far , I have not tried the T but maybe someday

You got a nice one there Gunner. Don't clean that green off of it. It looks great the way it is. Them silver uMaxs are just darn good detectors. I don't care what them other people say... KEN Ind.

If someone is criticizing the silver its because they most likely have not used one I like the silent search all metal and the disc mode, If i had the disision making powers i would offer the silver in a pro packagewich would consist of a DD coil choice of the 7" wide scan or the new 8x11 DD or the concentric and it would have a ground balance 10 turn and a ED 180 sell for 300.00 or maybe 350 and i may offer it with a 7.5 Khz but the 10.6 is not badd. I can say the GB mode really polished the silver and made it shine. I am Itching to get back to that local

Good job bro on finding that 1886 IH cent!!!! That baby is a beauty. I am with Ken don't even clean it. Looks great just the way it is. Go itch that "itch" - Jimmy

I am with you jim no cleaning on this one , I sold it already for 4 bucks its in good condition. Got to be more coins in that spot
