Great thread., Ive read many times folks having a hard time distinguishing between a dime and a penny with the E trac. While I can tell the sound of a silver dime from a copper penny easily, the sound between a newer dime and some copper pennies tends to tork me when I dig a penny thinking I found a dime.
One thing I might add, if your in an area where OLDER coins exist and your finding them you should not care what the target id reads. If your getting a decent hit with each swing and you can pinpoint it then for sure I dig it. I way improve my good finds by digging these signals and Im surprised at least half of the time. For example: check out what your sound is like with multiple targets and the mixed ID too. The other day found 6 pennies, 4 dimes, 3 quarters, and two poker chips all in the same hole. The sound was dime the number was trash. This was the third coin spill on that lot for me. If I was just looking for solid coin readings I would of missed them all.
good luck,
shov
