Silver!!! Gold!!!! GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NINE ring day!!

Went to SNOB lake today and this time I called the police!!! Was diving behind houses and finding a little change and I hit the signet ring and a small silver ring on a drop off. Got behind one house and I was finding LIVE bullets EVERYWHERE. Most were 357 magnum, 3 were 45 cal. I was finding wad cutters, lead tipped, hollow point and full metal jacket. Well I got a bell tone. Thinking nothing of it, I dug it like I always do. Out comes a Taurus 357 magnum with a 6" barrel!!!!! I got back into my canoe and went to my truck. Called the same police department that is always called on me!! An officer I have met twice before came out. I showed him where I found the stuff. It was all tossed in. The gun was empty. I told him you can find bullets behind that one house everywhere. I am almost positive if I kept searching I would have found a 45 auto. LOL Where is my THOMPSON!!!!!! My guess is this gun has been in the water 3 - 5 years. They are going to have the Oakland County Sheriff go out there and find what I left.

Went across the lake to another swim area and found coin after coin after coin. 7 silver rings, a silver necklace, A silver bracelet. LOL I GOT TIRED of high tones!! Started passing them up trying to find more gold. Will go back and get more new change and silver rings. Only one wheat penny over in that section of this lake.

Boat anchor, rod and reel, horseshoe, socket old adjustable wrench, two more daredevils, and lots of other misc stuff found its way in my goodie bags.

I have a picture of the gun on my cell phone. I need to figure out how to get it on my computer! No idea if I will ever see it again, highly doubt it. With a little cleaning this gun would fire. Not rusted much just muck on it.

Will post pictures in a bit. Was a GREAT fun day!!

OHH yes Hank, this is one of my favorite lakes!! Its a virgin lake to detectorists and I think after the police have been called on me 8 times its over. They threatened the callers with harrassment if they keep it up. I have taken two friends to this lake and both will stay out unless I take them. They are great that way. The boat anchor and rod and reel are still in my truck. See one anchor you have seen them all. I have over 50 beside my house right now. Can't seem to leave a factory made anchor down there!!

Dang SD that is a ton of stuff, I bet the gun is SS, you have to be growing gills by now have all that fun detecting underwater , that's pretty cool to help out the police like you do, HH tigerhank68

It's no wonder that some of those people dont want you diving round there.....the bodies will be the next things you'll find. (actually, that thought may not be so far fetched). Take care.

I learned ONE important piece of information when I was on search and rescue. The best part about finding a body underwater is NOBODY can hear you scream!! Since I am in less than 8 foot of water, I don't think I will find a body. Now if I was diving deeper maybe. This gun was right behind a pontoon boat in just over 6' of water. I had to get closer to shore so I could stand up and see what I had. After I found it I immediately quit diving that spot. LOL I keep wondering what else I could have stumbled upon!! Oh well, plenty of other times to go back. Will have to call the police and see if there is a time frame to go back to that area. Tis fun in the big city!

Hey SD you definitely need a under water camera to film some of your adventures!

Yes I thought about an underwater camera. LOL then I started working on my boats!! For all that don't know it. BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand!! So the camera is on hold at this time.

Yes I dive alone, Been diving alone since I was certified in Okinawa in March of 1980. And yes it can be spooky ONLY because of the idiot boaters that don't know what a dive flag is. I am very comfortable in the water and I have been able to get out of situations with no problem so far. MOST the time I am in water 10' deep or less. Sometimes on a drop off I go deeper and in the river here I go down to about 70'.

The thing that scares me the most is becoming propeller bait. I was already rolled over by a snailboat keel hitting my tank. Luckily not my neck!

wow,the adventure continues....great finds...and yes i agree with furios t...someone knew that gun was out there and knew if they didnt get you kicked out or frustrated that sooner or later you would find it...just hope that gun dont have an evil past....hh,gl.

DOES MAKE YOU WONDER ABOUT THE GUN...why they keep calling the cops on you???be interesting to find out the history...might just be a pocket spill, bullets and all:)

Bob, they keep calling the cops because they THINK its a private lake. AWWW the poor rich (lol as one cop said POMPUS JERKS) people with nothing better to do. I was diving in 20' of water UNDER their kids. I could be a child molester!! As I told the JERK lady that keeps saying that, I have SIX daughters and I was a cop for 9 years and have NO police record. I am interested in the bottom and NOT what is swimming above me, unless they dive down and hit my tank. And because they are multimillionairs they think they are better than I am I think and can push me around.

Anyway going back tomorrow and Monday!! I have LOTS of shoreline to hit!

The police were grateful and ALL the police I have met but one have been GREAT. I will NOT be diving behind that one dock or pontoon boat till the dive team finds everything they want to find. LOL who knows what else I will come across. In order to find it you have to get your coil over it!!

Wow, must be rough. Getting tired of digging all that junky silver!

Cool finds overall. I hope the local dive team finishes up soon so you can get back in the area. It's funny how people think throwing something in the water will get rid of it.

I called the detective on the case. He said the gun was made in 1989 BUT there is NO record of it in Michigan. They have to do a federal search on it to see what state it came from. Interesting puzzle.
