Shovel modification

Today it was time to modify one of my excavation shovels. It was a bit big and heavy and I couldn't fit it in my backpack. I have trimmed it to my liking and used a handlebar from a folding skateboard. Now I simply take it apart and put it in my backpack until use. I can also use it as a cane in slippery mountain places. It is only 15 '' folded. Extended maximum 43.3 ''

Measure the inside of the blade and cut it so that it will fit with the inner shank of the skateboard. Then I made four holes of about 8mm on four sides of the shovel that I point out with the pencil. I put some solder points and passed the grinder. It has been perfectly fitted.
Now you just need to fill the hole with epoxy and paint.

Today I have time and I made another folding shovel. Disassembled it measures 16.5" and extended, it can reach up to 40". Hope you like.

I've been working on a carry option for the longer handled detecting shovel here is an un-field tested concept I'm working on to help carry the longer handle detecting.
I found this old sturdy cellphone carry case, I removed the belt clip, I grinded two small notches on the side near the top of the clip to allow the edges to be folded just a bit to fit the roundness of the tube.
Then I clamped it to the handle for testing purposes, if it works well then I can work out the details of attaching it some other method, but if there is some location problems in the field then its adjustable.
I wanted to position the hanger in a way that it will hang blade downward and not want to flip around and be as high as reasonable off the ground.
