SHOULD WE USE QUICK MASK ?

A long time ago...years ago....I came across another way to find coins in iron.
I used to hit quick mask and check every target....if it called it iron...I walked...that was a big mistake...
When you turn on your detector, hit the detect button to get the large numbers on the screen as you swing on a target with the little box on top. (old mans mode ) HA HA ! Us old timers know that set up real well ! The eyes just don't see like they used to !
Now when you hit a high tone target that could be a nail or iron..hit the pinpoint button....you etrac will now give you an actual id number of what is in the ground as you pinpoint. Amazing...the etrac is just simply so well thought out, it can do this in old mans mode.
If a coin is near a nail, like on the tip that gives the high tone, your number will be in the 30's fe usually 35...but as you tight wiggle the coil across the target, if a coin is there, it will give fe's in the low teens to mid 20's ....Oh yeah....a sign that a coin is also in there with the nail/iron. You check each high tone target and with quick mask it will call a coin next to a nail an iron target...but in old mans mode it will hit fe's of 35 on one end but at the other end of a target it reads 22-25 fe.....a coin in iron.
Give it a try and let me know!

The explorer SE also gives you a ID number in pinpoint mode
maybe it will work for it also....probably the whole e series may work....maybe not all the time depending on where the iron is located but more than using quick mask ...at least for me.
Thanks for the input.

This is kind of a add to what you already told me and explains why your patterns are pretty tight. Now I hunt in the old mans mode most of the time but never paid much attention to the ID numbers when in PP mode. Does this work in both the PP modes or just the sizing. I did try sizing but couldn't seem to get a handle on it?
I haven't had a chance to get out and try the tips you told me but everything is all setup and ready to go. Still taking care of the wife after her surgery and it has been dry and well in to the 90's for weeks now.
The above tip really iced the cake for me, I got to get out and try this out.

Elmy thanks a bunch,

Ron in WV

Sizing will hit the Largest target and anything at that same depth....so if a coin is deeper than a larger target ,the size of a aluminum can or so, it will not be detected. Sizing will show the shape or length of a target.
Normal pinpoint is the one to use in (OLD MANS MODE)...which by the way is what I came to call it, not the proper usage.... but sizing does work to determine the size of a target and lock onto the largest target under the coil.
Ron in WV....if you are using the large numbers, just watch the id of the target as you pinpoint it.....it will be pretty accurate as to what is in the hole in normal pp mode and can even tell you iron or something else is close to your target by different id numbers close or off to the side a little.....and it will hit targets at different depths in normal pinpoint where sizing will lock on the largest target under the coil.
Not that hard ....just a little more of a way to disc a target with as you said ...my tighter patterns.... GO GET "EM.

Old Mans Mode...Large Digital display...does give an accurate id in pinpoint... to check it , you can use the etrac emulator and hit detect button twice to get the large numbers.
Then hit pinpoint and you will see only one set of numbers for each coin you test on the emulator.
One of your best discriminators to use on your etrac.
Use it on every target.
