I went to an old park that has yielded a variety of old coins including IH cents, Merc. dimes, Rosie dimes, and a few silver quarters for my buddy, but somehow the quarter have eluded me until today.
I got a faint signal that indicated this may be a quarter, and it was showing 6 to 8 inches.
I thought it may be an old crown cap although the signal did not sound like a bottle cap on this target.
I dug a plug, checked the hole with my pinpointer and could not get a reading which made me feel this may be a good target.
After removing some dirt I rechecked the hole and got a good signal and removed some more dirt, checked the pile and found this quarter hiding in the loose dirt.. still trying to elude me.
Although it doesn't have a date on it, it should be dated between 1917 and 1924 from the detail on the coin.
Only the third one I have found in my 8 years of detecting.
Thanks for looking,
Felix
