I used to see them 70 years ago when I was a kid LOL & I seemed that they were not flat like Jim says & in the smaller end it curved around for a finger. What you found is neat, what-ever-it-is

Must be it's an old metel Pringle lol I'm solid on the here's some more angles. The last photo sums it up sorry to open that can on you. I may refinish it and put it in my golf bag for putting on my spikes add a little class to my game lol. The great shoe horn debate

Yeah, those angels show it to be a shoe horn.

Keep the lid on that whoop ass. My oldest son had something like that that he turned loose in our fishing cabin a few years ago and drove his two brothers, father and a friend of one of my sons out the door of the cabin. Some terrible stuff!!!!!!!!! HH jim tn

I'm pretty sure that's a shoe horn.
The body is curved. And I believe the handle part was bent up and folded. Shoe Horn.
