Hi guys,

Does anyone knows where to find info on shipwrecks? There's a guy that claims to have found a bell with the inscription S.S.Esperanza dated 1900's, I searched the net but didn't find anything, so I'm not sure if the bell belongs to a ship, although, the inscriptions S.S. makes me think otherwise.

do a search for Lloyds shipping. you need to check the register, they have plenty of resources for maritine reserch

It's mentioned here:

http://www.immigrantships.net/newsarticles/1900_newsarticles.html

It seems it had regular runs between NYC and Havana Cuba.

Here is a Photo of it! Open this link and on the left side you can obtain the history of the Ward Line shipping company that operated this ship.

Tons of info here.

Esperanza (1901) (Official Number 136870)

Launched for the Ward Line in February 1901; in service from 1901 to 1924. She struck the Tampico jetty in November 1924 and later capsized and partially sank. Her rusting wreck was scrapped on the spot later that year.
