Share your strangest and most unexpected finds

I found this shortly after I started detecting and I just knew it was an aluminum can judging by the signal.
Good thing I found this early on as I might have left it in the ground these days.
I actually thought is was still a piece of aluminum when I got it out until I saw some details on it.
It measures about 3"x 3" and is sterling silver.
Sometimes you just never know.. that's what makes this hobby fascinating!!
Thanks for looking,
Felix

I love it. What a bold bulldog. It's great to find out it's silver. I bet it looks good in your display?! HH, Nancy

well i found a pair of brass knuckles at a local park ball diamond, about 4'' deep, i guess they were playin' hardball!!!:surrender:

I've had many but as far as with a metal detector: I had just read an article by Charles Garrett how the GTA series could id several targets in close proximity and of course he had the pics to prove. Well, I took my GTA 300 and just lowered the disc and started searching a school for these mulitple target situations, I got bored, only finding 3 dimes. Fortunately I had started a grid pattern and I only liked about 10' or about 3 sweep widths finishing. All of a sudden it happened! Quarter, dime, nickel, penny signals with the icons bouncing all around. Excitedly I brushed back the gravel and there was a------$10 bill! I grabbed the bill and ran back to the car, started the engine when I realized I didn't even dig the coins! I went back and retrieved them.

Here's one for the books....A grill. For those who do not know what a grill is....Hip Hop stars wear them over their top teeth to give flash to their smile. 10K Gold...6.4 grams...worth a little over $100.00 in todays market......Jack

I guess the oddest thing I have found so far was in a Catholic school playground. As I was digging up a ginormus signal one of the priests happened by to see what was going on. As I retrieved the find I ask him if he had recently lost a fire extinguisher from the school. He said they had so I gave it back to him.

I dug this at a park in Salt Lake City. Rang up as a zinc penny at 5" deep. Lets just say that after I dug it, I stopped detecting and went STRAIGHT home!!! Last year they were minted in Carson City and they only minted 14,000

Chain was missing.

Strangest find I have is a token good for one fare that I think is from san francisco.
Unsure of the age since it had no dates on it and it depicted a trolly. is about the size of a dime and was a nice green patina.
Found in the back yard in the home I was buying in Lancaster Ca. Unfortunetly disablity caused me to lose that home in 1994or so.....

miles of coastline than most every state!! So I can't get it all!! Even though I try!!! Where do you live? Might be able to hook up if you want some great hunting ideas. Good luck out there and most of all have fun!!

One of my unusual finds is this old solid silver charm?....piece/object. I took a trip to England earlier this year and detected this from an old park. It's got a Birmingham hallmark and other letters but I'm unable to put an age on it. If you notice, the thumb is placed between the index and middle finger and someone said that is the sign of the letter 'T' for people that are deaf!!! It could be the first letter of the owner's name i.e. Tom, Timothy or Tiffany, Tabitha etc;.....so this is one of my curious pieces!!!

Interesting find goldstrike.

Used hypodermic syringe in oldest park in Des Moines. And there was blood inside the syringe. Can you say 'junkies'. That put an end to my detecting that particular park.

I found a tranquilizer dart several years ago while detecting a small town city park.

A 1916 D Merc Wow... maybe worth a big paycheck!
