Seriously. Is Tesoro in $$ trouble?

I guess Tesoro could do like another manufacturer....put things in new packaging, slap a different coil on the end, change colors of the plastic and get a couple guys to hype it to death all over the forum and claim it's the "best" detector ever made (especially since they've never even held one) I agree, I think a lot of folks are gonna buy into the hype, and be sadly disappointed. That will do more harm to them than not releasing something simply to boast it's "new". I know that crap was enough to turn me away from that forum, got sickening real fast, and I wasn't the only one who'd said so.

Anyway, I don't see the lack of "new" products as meaning someone is in financial trouble, I hope I'm wrong.

I think the Compadre will be my next detector.

Day by day I become more and more convinced that the only places a "high end" detector is really beneficial are, 1: a site where the ground is really bad, and 2: a site that has been hunted to death and the good targets that are left are well masked.
At most places most any machine will find most anything... and too much TID or VDI info can (and does) discourage the recovery of a good target.

The Compadre is a great machine with a good 180 disc and one knob. I want to try one. I am also interested in the G2 for the audio options but... I have been becoming more interested lately in more simple machines.

I have come (tentatively) to think that the general hunter needs one high-end machine, a mid-range machine that is suited to the sort of hunting the individual mostly hunts (ie relics, silver, clad) and a low-end machine that does not have a lot of features... like the Compadre... to use and dig everything that might be something.

There was a post in the Sovereign forum in the last few days about a newbie who got a Sovereign, took it to the beach not knowing what he was doing and quickly dug a money clip with 1100 bucks in it... don't you know that most esperienced hunters with expensive machines would have deemed it trash and moved along... I have been thinking a lot lately about starting to dig any large trash signals, just to see... small ones too, especially in parks and other puvlic places.

Well, I guess I had a timely post. I went out and about an hour ago I found a 10kMEX gold ring with the Compadre! I was experimenting with how much disc. I could tolderate and raised it from iron to where the tiny pieces of foil I was finding would just fall out-not a true foil setting, but right under it. I got a sort of staccato signal and found out why. The ring was standing on edge! Now I have one MORE problem. When my main computer went down, the camera cd got stuck in the drive! Does anyone know how to get the door to open without prying off the door? The light comes on and I can feel a bump but the door won't open:confused: I would sure like to get back to sending pics.

Does your drive have that little pin hole in the front where you stab a straightened paper clip in to over ride the release latch?

Oh - & that Compadre can hold it's own & more

Thanks. I found it and got it open-another poster told me right before your post on another Tesoro forum. Now get this-the disc is for Windows XP and this little laptop has Vista:rage: I have a CD I was given from another guy for installing his version of XP and am gonna try bootlegging (?) the startup off his CD for my stuck computer. Don't know what's gonna happen-but my son said it could be done if I'm lucky.:surrender:

When you talk about bang for the buck, you can't beat the Compadre. I have both the 5.75 and the 7" coil versions

Slingshot described it well when he called it thorough. It does perform amazingly well in iron infested areas. And it is an effortless detector that is just downright fun to use.

However, the depth difference between the Compadre and my F-75 is significant and not so easy to dismiss in most areas I hunt, at least 3-4 inches.

Or my Silver umax-1-2"

I'm happy with my Silver uMax, Eldorado, and my Tiger Shark. These machines couldn't be any better! It will be good to see what they come up with, however.
