Seriously. Is Tesoro in $$ trouble?

JASONSPAZ1

I always like to keep up with what is going on with the big manufactures of detectors. I have always liked Tesoro for their strong family business and the only guys to offer a lifetime warranty. However, I am concerned that when i visit the Tesoro site the only new item they have to show off is a new lower pole.
Does anyone know what the deal is with Tesoro? Ever since the announcement of the AT-PRO from Garrett I have decided to completely forget about Tesoro coming out with a new Tiger Shark. How can they possibly have ended production of the Tiger Shark over a water proof coil connector?
I am not bashing Tesoro, I am just worried that they are at the end of the line.

Take Care

Tesoro will be releasing a new machine or two, spring/summer 2011. Being family run, they will always have tight lips when it comes to new machines and financial questions. The market here in AZ is the worst in the US. but I don't think its effecting them as much as the rest. Being a small family run boutique company, they have the lowest overhead of them all. Plus its made right here in the good old USA.

Do you have an insider at the Tesoro factory. If not, how do you know your statement about the new model/models are true?

Tesoro is a fine, small family run operation but how you have info. of a couple of detectors comeing out by them is beyond me.-----They have ALWAYS kept any new releases in the past a closely guarded secret until very close to release time.----Where are you getting this information (spring/summer '11)?

Well I know because information and photo have been posted to this and other forums and yes I know that they are working on one.

I know very little about big/or little business dealings but from what I think I understand about Tesoro, is that their detector part of their business is not near so big or important , or as profitable as the other interprizes they have going for them. That may be hearsay, and only what I have heard. We all know about the disaster in DC, and the failure to get the tax suituation setteled so that folks can go about planning their future investments and estimates. Is it really the smart thing for any detector Manufacturer to be putting out a new machine at this point in time? I don't know, about them but I do know the Tax Situation does for a fact have a heap of folks in a bind and not able to move forward for fear of the many downfalls that could very like hit them. Make or brake them, have big setbacks and loose a heap of big money on a gamble? DUH! We need to back up a bit and consider that our hopes and expectations may be more than a little to much to be looking for under the circumstances. I am old enough to remember when folks had a choice of different auto dealers, but the models were not all that varried and you had only one choice of color, black. Well history does repeat itself , if we are not careful, and the autos were like that for a darn good reason, and everyone still managed to get to and from wherever!.Just may be time to tighten up some because a big dose of history may just be about to overtake us,and we should already realize that we have more to worry about that why Tesoro ain't out with that shiney new machine yet. Hope I am wrong, but whatever takes place, Tesoro has every reason to bid their time and make the right decision for themselves. It will eventually be best for us too! HH Charlie

I have 2 Tiger Sharks and they are both great machines. They are around so if you want one why not buy one? They have been problem free for me. Tesoro will get the connector issue fixed. How do I know that? Because they said they are working on it and I believe them. And integrity is an integral part of the character of that company. Have fun!
Best Regards,
Steve

Beside folks asking them via phone - I wonder if any of them pay any attention to the forums on what users are posting

Desert Rat - That link you posted as evidence that Tesoro is coming out with a new detector - read it again. It's blatantly obvious that the post was a joke.

Hopefully nobody is getting too excited about that "asphalt ground balancing." :crylol:

Okay you got me. :). I love all these post about what is happening with tesoro, I just wanted to egg them on. Tesoro has tight lips and we will just have to wait and see.

I'm gonna get it for this post, I know. I have owned nearly 100 different detectors over a period of 30 years. CZ-5, which is by no means a weak detector was one of them and I say this because they weren't just junk detectors or cheapos. What does it take to find a coin or ring? I remember finding a silver half dollar at a measured 12" with the AH Pro- a detector that under normal circumstances couldn't pick up a quarter over 5" in air tests. I have a Compadre that I just got and am amazed at what I'm finding with it. This post only made me to decide that when I get my next Christmas money, it's gonna be a backup Compadre in case they do fold. I was once a guy that had to have every detector that tickled my fancy and am thankful to get over the craze. What does it take to find a coin or ring anyway. It's the hunt-not the detector. I feel the Compadre can do the same things as the AT Pro-the only difference being without the ID and being waterproof. With the disc set at just rejecting a small nail, the bottle cap gave a broken signal and I could find a coin held 2" below a paper clip-mimicing target masking. Now I know that's not "tone roll-over" but I could tell what it was telling me. Well, enough. Maybe I should have kept silent. Anyway, I hope the best for the Giffords.

Slingshot, I agree with you... it doesn't take a 1200.00 detector to find clad coins in a park. Although I have never owned anything close to 100 detectors....more like 16 I can remember, i do like trying different detectors with different features but I always come back to a simple beep and dig detector. Presently I have a cz5 and a Silver

Thanks, Joe. The hype is more about surprise than anything. While the Compadre surely doesn't have the depth of a Vaq or Cibola, or for that matter my Silver umax, it surprises you with it's ability to be so thorough. The ability to hit gold chains that others won't even pick up is what got me-I didn't expect to find a 14k gold chain a few weeks after getting mine. But the real surprise came when ALL my other detectors wouldn't even pick it up in a/m mode. The only drawback is that you have to choose your sites carefully or turn the disc up to foil for the trashier sites. I just thought it was nice to disc out paper clips and bobby pins and STILL find the gold chain. Only my old Garrett BFO was able to get close to doing that.

Slingshot, Very few of my better finds have been deeper than 6 inches, so depth isn't always the main factor in choosing a detector. The ability to see targets other detectors can't see could pay off big with one find. I usually hunt a site with 2 detectors, my Silver

History does repeat itself . I've lived long enough to have seen many examples of that and at the present I am very uneasy .
