Separation versus see-through in iron

I don't know if separation is the same as see-through. We've all seen tests of various makes of machines that exhibit very fast "recovery" speeds on closely spaced individual targets only to falter when it comes to Monte's Nail Board test. While testing my V3i, I tried many different settings revolving around the "Recovery Speed" and "Correlate" with little success. Further testing realized possibly better options for working around iron. But first, and if there's anyone left on this excellent forum for the White's V3i, I'd like to ask what the experienced V3i user's favorite set-up is for seeking non-ferrous targets near iron at depth, not only on or near the surface targets. I don't post much but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope to see this forum revitalized.

Howdy Cainevaroy--

In addition to the adjustments that you mentioned, try experimenting with Bottle Cap Reject and Filters. For the deep targets, I have found that one must find that "sweet spot" with the combination of physical sweep speed, filters, sensitivity, BCR and attention to the spectograph. I am still here lurking after all these years. You will need to run the 5mhz band pass and I have found that a larger coil running a gain of around 5, single frequency 7.5 running mixed mode stereo can really cut through the surface clutter. I am waiting patiently for the next magic bullet from Whites.....
