Hi, i am new to metal detecting and just trying to understand my detector, it's a viking, not sure whether you have that model over there, but any way, how does the sensitivity work, is it the higher you have it the deeper you can find things, just not to sure, you help would be very helpful.

That is true to a point, then the machine becomes saturated, and it will start to false...The SENSitivity is really how well the receiver of the machine will pick up the returning signal bounced off of metal objects...Too much signal can overload the receiver, and you get signals when no metal is present...Only turn it up as high as you can without the detector going nuts...I have a White's Classic II, and I can not turn mine up beyond about 3 o'clock usually, unless I am in extremely clean soil...I get about 8 inches on dimes, sometimes 10" if the ground is right...
