SEF 12x10

Just an update:
I got the coil in today and it is quite substantial....meaning it seems a deal more sturdy than the ProCoil. That being said it is also heavier, but still manageable. One other note...I did not order a coil cover for it, however, contrary to popular belief.....they sent one with it! So now I don't have to order one...which is very cool. I don't know if I got lucky or they've rethought the strategy of separating the coil cover from the coil as a separate purchase. Either way I'm happy. I won't be able to test it until the weather gets better....probably sometime next week.

Dan good luck with your new 12 X 10 SEF coil I hope you like it, I have the 8 x 6 and the 12 X 10 and 12 X15 and absolutely love them, as far as getting a few more inches of depth than the pro-coil it not going to happen, maybe a half inch more or less. But the coil is very stable and doesn't false on iron near as much as the pro-coil does. Can't wait to see you post your find.

I ran 10x12 was great coil did not see much depth improvement but did not lose any either, worked in iron better and would find good targets closer to trash than pro coil. Was a lot more stable than pro coil. Now I will tell you about my sorrow when I sold my Etrac's I left it on one of the detectors I sold now have 2 pro coils..You guys bought your coils a lot cheaper than I did I cannot remember exact price of 10x12 but it was near or over 200 bucks.I love my 8X6 only reason I have not replaced it.

It will get more depth than the pro coil on a silver dime in my test garden and covers a lot of ground. It is also a killer on your back because of the weight but works very well with a bungee type harness

I've been using the 12x10 SEF on my Explorer II for about a year and find it runs very stable, much better depth than the stock coil that came with the Explorer II. It works well in moderately trashy ground with good target separation. Only issue that I run into is if the coil cover gets dirt in it the I get falsing until I clean it out. I really need to seal the coil cover one of these days!

Just ordered a 12x10 SEF, cover, extra lower shaft and coil hardware...from Kellyco. I have to say, the customer service that I received was much better than I ever had in the past! They have had some recent changes that have improved the experience quite a bit. Although I had issues with them in the past, I'll be back as long as the imporved service stays. They will work good deals for you now too. Never thought I'd be saying this....

I ran a 10X12 SEF pretty much all the time for a couple of years until I wore it out then had to switch back to my Pro coil - and still found some great stuff (got an 1888 seated dime at about 9" a few weeks ago that was under a big rock). I just got another SEF from a forum member this weekend and will start using it again as soon as the snow thaws!
