What is the difference in the white and black SEF coils..
I'm using the black. 10x12 SEF coil on my V3i and it's running fine..My D2 coil is bad for sure if I try to run the gain at 12 or more it just overload.. no matter where I go no matter where I try same result with a D2 coil..The SEF wow.. I was reading a post about people having trouble finding nickels with the v3i they mustn't have an SEF coil.....Maybe the D2 coils are less sensitive to nickels..Just my opinion..

The white SEF is tuned better for the 22.5 frequency but I get along fine with the black SEF too.

Thanks for the help.. much appreciated

I went to a local play ground with the 10x12 black SEF coil did well..I did find it to be more sensitive to EMF signals...Pulled a quater at 6 1/2 with good vdi readings and dead on pinpoint.
What do you guys think about the SEF 10x12 on the v3i..?..So far so good for me and its the black SEF coil,I was told the white SEF is a litte better..?

I have the white SEF 10x12 for my V3i. It's my first choice when I need a larger coil. Not too heavy, accurate pinpoint, good depth & coverage.

I also have the black SEF 10x12 for my wife to use on the DFX. I tried it on the V3i and like Larry indicated it worked well however it didn't respond well to the 22.5 frequency. To be honest, I don't think I ever missed any coins or good targets with it on the V.

Thx for the help guys..

I use the black sef coil on my v3i all the time. I'm not sure but I think my d2 coil is messed up' Btw.I run a 7 band filter when possible, 2.5 kHz single frequency. Hit targets at 9 inches easy.

I have the white 10x12 SEF and it is an excellent choice. Mine does not overload and I like the balance. I'd suggest getting the white SEF because if you ever have to choose the 22.5 frequency (less sensitive to EMI / RFI) you'll be better off. That said, I also have the 13" ultimate and so far for 2016 has taken the place of my SEF for fields. My D2 coil is a winner - no issues and is the original from 2011.
