:usaflag:Have fun....Maybe you'll find some of Imelda Marcos' shoes......take care and be safe.

Will be leaving tomorrow and fly from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and from there to Manila. Will visit a friend there and the next day to the southern Island Mindanao. We have a small house in Cagayan de Oro to have some privacy. We will be making trips to islands as well. Will be swimming and playing in the water a lot.

I have that cheap aquascan detector there. It's not a great thing but can still satisfy my detecting needs from time to time. I also plan to do some fishing.

Dave [dahut] , I never tried that Balut. Just the thought of that poor little chick in an egg:puke:. But I learned to eat most local dishes though.

John, have a good vacation yourself.

Eric.

Enjoy the vacation!:detecting:My wife is from the Philippines and we go as often as we can afford to. We were there for the month of September '09. Probably go back in a couple years and stay for a month or two. I brought my Sea Hunter MKll and wifey brought her Ace 250. We hit a couple beaches, but didn't find anything good. A few pesos. Had a blast, though. Yeah, I can eat most local dishes, but that balut is for the birds:rofl:(baby ducks)

Hey, man, just to let you know, in case you plan on doing any treasure huntin' in the caves or anything like that. The Philippines came out with a new law back in the late summer of '08 to protect what they consider "ancestral sites". Non-Filipinos can no longer do any digging/treasure hunting in the cave networks(where the Japs hid alot o'gold during the occupation/WWll Yamasita). Filipino citizens must apply for a permit that is good for one year(I believe).

Most beaches allow metal detecting(that I'm aware of). We would just check with the resort/beach management. Best of luck to ya! I hope ya find some gold jewelry. Over there(Asia) gold jewelry has a much higher gold content than what we typically have in The States. I don't know about Europe where you live. Happy Hunting!:)

Thanks, sent you a pm. yes, I would be careful to detect there. I will hit some beaches but it would not be wise to go detecting in the mountain areas. Abu sajaf might be waiting for the foreigners there.
