Second Tesoro surprise for 2017??

I don't care if a detector was designed "outsourced" as long as the technology tech stayed with that company. Tesoro may not afford and or need an in house engineer as long as there was a consistent and reliable source they could call on. Freelance engineering might be the way to go..........???

My metal detecting career is all of a total 3 months today, so I a not MD educated enough to have a valid opinion on the technical stuff, like engineering, who and why.

However, after 70 years of existence, I do have an opinion about what's best for this country:

More love for the DeLeon. Except for the people out West, this is the easiest MD to love. I've never used another Tesoro , so until I do, the DeLeon is the greatest. You can trust it, you can believe it. I swear it can speak broken english. " Dig dig, dig here, Vern."
It don't lie.

Well, next they will change the color of the Mojave and people will buy another one, even though they already have one, because it's a different color. Remember the "new" black Cibola's, Vaquero's, and Tejon's. Maybe the new color will have a different coil on it also. Over the next ten or so years, they may add a knob or switch and rename it. As far as a multi-freq, two tone detector? Either Tesoro just does not seem willing to or has what it takes. Sorry, though the Mojave has pleased some, it pretty much proves that. Guess they had to put something out because of the whole Cazador disaster. If it were not for that, think they would have not come out with anything at all...

Lol nevermind

I am glad Tesoro makes the type of machines they do. I own 14 detectors from the CTX3030, XP Deus down to the compadre. Tesoro doesn't need to make multi tone, multi frequency, TID etc. I like Tesoros because of their simplicity and performance. I think the Mojave is a step in the right direction for them. Personally they could put that mineral switch on all their machines and I would be happy. I haven't used my Tejon, Vaquero or Bandido2 micromax since getting it. I will use them again but the Mojave is just plain easy and fun to use. The best part? For 250 bucks, Tesoro gave us a machine that will unmask in iron with the best of them and work in just about any bad ground I have thrown at it including gravel tot lots that shut a lot of machines down.

I agree welgrund. If they had all that, they would be everyone else. I own tesoros because of how easy they are to operate and fun factor.
I have "fancy" machines too, but I love Tesoro and how they work.

Alot of folks can't comprehend knobs and switches.
Too much time with the Xbox and iPhone.
They require the visual stimuli provided by the screen or they get bored.
I have been fortunate to stay employed as an audio engineer and love
Tesoros "single" tone and all its nuances.
Really teaches you to focus on the sound.
And my eyes are free to enjoy the sights!
Whatever Tesoro does in the future I hope they keep it analog!

Just like vinyl records. Can't beat analog sound over digital. The waves will always beat the blocks haha.

..I'm still spinning mine on a Rega Planar 3 with a Sumiko Blue Point, bought in the '80s..
I was laughing when people were tossing their boxes of records out on the curb, and buying CDs. :bouncy:

My equipment is alot newer. I have dual numark TT100 direct drive. Can't remember the model of the needles. Have to get back to you on that haha

Tesoros?

I think there is a real pleasure in effective simplicity. In the detector world, Tesoro's represent effective simplicity. They work and they last.

For me, AUDIO is really what the hunt is all about. It is the give away for the target hiding beneath. That's where the addiction lies, that SOUND followed by the exploration for the prize.

And the older I get, the greater appreciation I have for LIGHTWEIGHT. You can spend a lot of $$ to lighten detectors that are too heavy; special batteries, custom carbon fiber shafts, special coils. But even well balanced weight is still weight.

Yeah, I guess having a toggle switch which you can choose between 3 widely different frequencies and maybe a two tone id, would make a detector much to complicated for some to operate and an ounce or two of weight, it would much to heavy. I use a Tesoro and do enjoy it. They already have simple "turn on and go" machines with the Compadre, Silver, and the Cibola. Those are about as simple to operate as you can get already. Well, maybe not the Cibola, it does have an adjustable threshold knob, frequency shift toggle, and a pin point button. That puts it over the edge of being a simple detector. Do not even mention the Vaquero, with it's added manual GB knob and taking ,at most 10 seconds to do, is just so complicated. lol

Well done gentlemen!

Tesoro making record players now :lmfao: I have to say I want to go back to my vinyl but digital is to easy made me lazy.....spent all the energy diggin tabs.

The other brands at the end of the day are really not doing anything super exciting. Unless you want to spend $1000 or more. At first I was a little upset about the entire cazador situation ...I really wanted to buy one....But when I think about what Tesoro is all about....There freakin awseam....I have many manchines...Some from overseas that are just knobs....That go really deep but lack disc. Pros and cons to everything and Tesoro is one big pro....I really like the feel and quality materials they use...Sure I want a two tone model, with a few extra gizmos....I'm sure in the future they will....

It's no laughing matter! There is a lot of tension over the mysterious Cazador. But I think the release of the Mojave has relieved the tension. From the sounds of it, they hit a home run.

i am glad they came to their senses and didn't make a detector with that awful name who thought that was a good idea

not sure what people expect from Tesoro its Tesoro if they changed there would be a public outcry of sacrilege :buds:

AJ

Very true AJ.
Its alot like McDonald's. They messed up the second they gave in to the obese people blaming them for being obese and started serving salads.
Really, who goes to McDonald's and doesn't know it's not healthy...
If Tesoro gave in to the trend they wouldn't be Tesoro anymore and also the cult following would be mad.
So like AJ said Tesoro is what it is. If it wasn't, it would just blend into the pond of the other brands trying to out-digitize each other lol.
