season premier of diggers tonite on tv

Oh wow every time I see rick savage and american diggers I want to barf. The whole show is phony even that cheesy name plate on the truck

I have only seen the advertisements of the show. I was not favorably impressed and I am a newbie to the hobby. While detecting a tot lot the other day two couples came down the street and stopped to talk. I took the time to answer the usual questions and one of the Ladies volunteered that their lot was one acre and that she had heard that Confederate soldiers had camped in the area of her house. She said that she would like for me to come detect their yard. Needless to say my eyes lit up like Christmas lights and i was definitely all ears. The husband did not seem to be to interested in me doing so and asked "You don't act like those folks on tv do you?". I replied No Sir Absolutely Not. He did not seem impressed and I firmly believe Diggers cost me a potentially excellent place to detect.

I gave this show another try. I watched 2 more shows. Even my wife wants to write the show about how stupid it is. The best part of the show is when they show old pictures, talk to historians and show the old properties. The worst part is the metal detecting and actors. Nobody acts like that! Sad....

U have to understand tho its the producers wanting that stuff. If they had to guys swingin a metal detector it wud bore people to death. I'm sure they r just doin what they r told. Its like reality tv....trust me it is the farthest thing from reality.

Why don't these guys do "Privy Digs" It's a bunch of crap anyway. All these guys are missing is the big shoes and red nose. The one guys loves to jump and then fall a lot. I guess you do that when your 7 years old.

I know last season it was discussed weather they where or where not sponsors of the show.
I have seen these two guys "King George" and "Ringmaster" in past Garrett Searcher news letters, and I think they where in some old advertisements for the GIT 2500.
If I Garrett Brass I would inform the producers that unless they put up a disclaimer about permission and proper digging, they are not allowed to show the Garrett name.
Just my opinion

I hope Garrett knows that these shows are not helping us.

They should at least have the metal detector's code of ethics shown on the screen. Our pastor's grandson got a metal detector for Christmas and was so excited and telling me what he and his friend had found and the first thing I asked him was: Do you fill in your holes? Yes sir, I sure do and the lady that bought him the detector is getting one herself. I guess when I took my camera to church and showed them what I had found, they got the fever. HH.

Last year when the show first came out, Garrett promoted it on their website and Facebook page, when people started complaining to Garrett, they pulled all of it. They then posted the following on Facebook:

Garrett Metal Detectors
February 29, 2012.
DIGGERS Program on National Geographic Channel.
In response to those who are opposed to this program, it should be noted that Garrett Metal Detectors does not sponsor or fund this programming, nor do we have any input on its content. Charles Garrett has forever pushed the Golden Rule of Metal Detecting (filling in holes, hauling out trash, respecting landowners' property). How Garrett equipment is used on a TV program that Garrett did not film is not in our control.

If they did or didn't, having their products seen by lots of people is one hell of a marketing score...Remember when OCC came out? All the professional bike builders considered them bufooons and "cake decorators" and loudly voiced their opposition...regardless, the massive amounts of newly interested buyers made the whole industry a very profitable place until Aug 08. Any mfg that had some product imbedded on that show made good coin...There will be or is a lot of sales of detectors just because of the interest this Diggers show has nurtured. For a mfg. thats GREAT! Think of all the money Garrett has made off of their security products thanks to 911? The TSA is not going anywhere soon, so I'm sure the hobby side of the business is nice, but not really the main profit driver..Anyway, as far as we are concerned, silver coins are not replenished, so the more folks out hunting them is BAD for us. Just the way it is.

i don't care who ya are. diggers is funny. lmao. i'm new to the hobby and find these guys hilarious. imo, they don't give the hobby a black eye.

Im gonna hang myself out there and agree with the last post from justb. If you dont like it turn it off. The producers have to make the show that way. I have no problem watching it with an open eye. Yes I would like to see them just mention once in a while to fill in holes etc.....BUT they never show them leave the holes not filled....they dont show anything. I have no problem with it either. I think its pretty real other than rick savage and american diggers.....Now im all on board for not liking that show. Its a farce and all those clowns are meatheads.

I will go one step beyond you Kenny and state that there is no way for public perception to be anything other than slanted against us hobbyist due to some of the elements of these shows.

These shows sure aren't helping out cause. All a City board member has to do is play an episode of Digger's and/or American Diggers to the rest of the board to get detecting banned from the parks. We will be left behind while the so called stars of these shows will laugh all the way to the bank.

Yeah I def would agree with that also. I've watched the last few episodes and id be shocked if this show stayed on. Every show is basically the same. It does bother me they don't atleast show refilling holes or puttin the ethic codes up....it wud give the show more credibility.
