Sea Hunter

Hey I am looking into another water machine. Everyone tells me to get an Excal but they are a bit pricey and the seahunter Mark II has about the same reviews. Does anyone have some surf time on this machine that can tell me what you think? I have a 1280X which is great until you get in the saltwater. It just makes too much noise...

My old Sea Hunter was an awsome machine but had non removeable rechargeable batteries in it. Actually they could be removed but you had to break the factory seal to do it. I put the detector into storage for a while and came back to find the batteries leaked and destroyed the detector. Pretty sure there is no way for this to happen with the new ones as they have a sealed battery compartment that is water tight so as to not let water into the housing from the battery compartment. The new ones I am told are not affected by salt water or designed so as to not be affected. I see no reason to look past Garrett for any type of machine or for customer service. They have been awesome.

I have a new Sea Hunter on the way along with a Scorpion. If I could only buy the one, it would be the Sea Hunter for everything.

Hey thanks much. I have a couple of leads in the outer banks area and I am asking questions about a new machine all over the place. Most people say get the excal but looking at the seahunter reviews and the fact that they are half price I thought that that might be the machine. I had a guy PM me and tell me how much iron the older seahunters would dig but he did not know about the new ones.

I think the reason Garrett has not made any new machines for a long time is self explanitory.
