SE vs XS

Must have had a coin vacum to go down that 2 foot hole <shaft>?
24 inches is a bit of a long stretch id say..Maybe 12 inches with ideal conditions..Or a 40 inch coil head might help..or maybe it was 24 millimeters? But 24 inches?????

How larger of a surface area does a half penny have? The depth would depend on the surface area of the coin, if the coin was horizontal in the soil, and if the soil is very damp. Two feet is definitely great depth. I have had my arm up to my elbow on a large piece of iron but never that deep on a coin.

Can you post a photo of the coin?

[quote JBM]Well many of you guys have said much of what there is to be said.

I will keep this simple.................

I pulled out a copper halfpenny yesterday from nearly 24inches and using Pitch Hold the SE held onto the tone given.

I don't know whether I need to buy a new SE, or one of those tape measures you're using!.....Come on...stop deluding yourself.

Jerry, If you can pull a halfpenny at 24" I will pay your bar tab next time I'm in Bristol - if you can't then you pay mine! Deal?
