(Quote from Monte post above) To me the sad part is that Tesoro, the company he worked hard to establish and promote with involvement with the consumers, seems to have taken a wrong siding. We just don't have the same close association and communication with the company, their products or see a regular progression of achievements that we enjoyed back when..

* This was not the appropriate time to take a dig a Tesoro Monte.

I agree, pretty tasteless if you ask me.

I have to admit when I first read it I thought that this is certainly not the time to be bringing up company business practices. The internet is great but the down side is you don't have the body language to go along with what you are typing. There have been times in the past where I have typed things and then later think....I hope they took what I typed the way I intended(positive way)and not in the negative way because some statements need body language along with it. It is certainly not something I would bring up at a time like this but we are all different in different ways. This is my own personal opinion but I don't think Monte meant any disrespect.

Randy what you probably don't know is Monte has a bittersweet history with Tesoro going way back (without going into details out of respect for Tesoro and Monte) but a dig or pot shot none the less is exactly what he meant.

Take Care & Happy Hunting,
Bill G

Bill G , perhaps you need to go back and re-read the post. I read it as Jack created a great company, and lately under management other then his, the Company is not at its peak. If you don't think so then go read other post and different threads and read the negative reply's.
Seems you try to create problems were none exist.

No

I just call an Ace an Ace and a Spade a Spade. Think what you want of it.

Have a great day,
Bill G

I see...... Anyhow, this is a thread to remember Jack. If you have a beef with something, then please show some courtesy and start a new thread.

My point exactly... Remember Jack not take a dig at his company as Monte did and does quiet often about Tesoro.

Let's drop this Gregg..

Condolences to jacks family from Australia.
Jack has left a permanent mark in metal detecting history and Tesoro detectors are unique.

Thoughts and prayers to the Gifford family.

God Speed Mr. Gifford. You've enriched my life. It's one of your detectors that got me into this wonderful hobby and I am thankful.

My thoughts and prayers to the Gifford family,Tesoro had many great machines released under JACKS leadership.Im sure he will be dearly missed by all the family and the metal detecting community..I still own my Tesoro Royal Sabre that I bought new many years ago and yes it still works as well as the first day I turned it on.I have many memories with that detector so thanks Jack and may You rest in Peace.....Markmac

Thanks Jack for all that you did for our great hobby you will no doubt be missed! My first machine I ever bought was a big box Tesoro Bandido II and I still have it and it has never failed me or required service that was around 20 years ago!! God Bless the Gifford family and the fine folks who carry on Jacks legacy at Tesoro.

I stopped by the Tesoro shop on a Saturday a few years ago on vacation, the place was closed of course, but I'd like to thank Jack for the simple joy he brought me and others in this life. We sorely need more folks like him.

Sorry to hear he has passed. He would answer the phone and talk with you if you needed him. Great guy. My condolences to the family.
