My little plug broke off in the first month or so, then somehow or other, I lost the entire set, including the charger and the car plug charger. So I ordered a new charger, and the plug cover on the new one broke off also. As for intermittent sound, the factory headphones are so intermittent I cannot use them as the plug does not seem to fit well. Wiggle the jack to get sound, then if the cord is moved I lose sound. My Gray Ghost work well. I almost never use headphone and almost always use ear buds in the wireless. Never a problem there.

If it ends up being your KOSS headphones, you should get them replaced under warranty. But in the meantime, before you go spend money on another set of headphones.....remember that the audio settings for the detector

Yup. Mine's gone too

My Koss headphones had always been sometimes scratchy and intermittent, and it only got worse, over a period of a couple of months they eventually hardly worked at all. I called Minelab and a new pair was shipped to me right away after I explained to them it was the headphones that failed, they asked how I determined it was the headphones, easy, I put on a different pair and they worked fine! I also mentioned that the protective flap/cover for the port on the WM10 had broken off right away, so they included a new one in the box. They told me I had to be very careful with that part when opening and closing it, well, I already KNEW that.

So I received the new headphones, these work great with no intermittent sound at all, yet anyway, with my original ones I always thought something wasn't quite right with them, not the case with these.

To install the protective cover on the WM10 you just have to remove 4 screws and slide what is left of the broken original off the little metal piece it secures to on the inside of the wm10 and slide the new part on then put it back together and reinstall the screws. Easy to do. With so many people having issues with that part I took pictures of the process while I did it just in case anyone wanted to see what they are getting into before opening the WM10, but to be honest, if I can take it apart and put it back together so can anyone else with 3 thumbs.

The new headphones sound and behave much better than my first set. I hope they last.

Thanks to everyone for their input and help.

McClod,
Did you happen to look at the battery while you had it apart? Is it something that might be had at a battery store? I have an extra WM10 and was going to check it out to see if the battery could be replaced. If you have pics of the inside, post them, I'd like to see them.
