rookie beach hunt

Planning a trip to daytona have never hunted beaches. Have an XS with small and large stock coils. Does anyone think I might have a problem as long as the box doesn't get wet. maybe 2' out in the water. And right at the water edge.

I have hunted the beach with my E-Trac, I hunt the hightide line all the way to the water. There is no way I would get 2' in the water with a machine that is not water proof your just asking for it.
If you have 2 foot of water inside your detector shaft and you happen to lay your machine down or raise the coil up and the salt water reaches your coil connection you'll be zapped out of business.

Get a tide chart and hunt the low tides, I start about a couple hours before low tide and follow the water out. The more your in the areas where people play in the water the better chance you have of getting gold.

I have a buddy that owns an Excalibur but he rarely uses it, he stays with his SE Pro and he has the finds to put a lot of people to shame.

Good Luck

Like bcoop said if you are out in the water and a big wave comes in on you and hits the control box you're done. Good Luck! HH :minelab:
