Road trip stuff.....

A bit of a road trip and naturally I made time for a few hunts. The stuff at the top of photo one was a few hours at a modern elementary school. Nothing special. The stuff at the bottom is from a really old country school I always stop at when I pass it. I'd drive out of my way to pass it too! Last time there I was skunked for silver but got about a dozen wheats. Yesterday the ground conditions and weather were perfect for detecting! Best stuff was four wheaties, three silver dimes, and a really special sterling crucifix. The crucifix is from Lourdes as the photo shows. It is one of my new favorite finds!

Back to an old thought. I was hot, tired, and thirsty. Did the old one more find drill. I was steps away from my truck and said screw it I'm done. My detector had other ideas and sang out. Signal between dime and quarter at 6 inches. Dug down and got the 1939 merc. I have been having a lot of luck with my final finds of the day this year.

Celebrate America's independence! Be safe. Buckle up to at least save yourself the aggravation I put myself through on Memorial Day. All sorts or ridiculous road blocks around here this weekend. I have an opinion here but that is for another forum.

The old paper towel is still around but it's piled with other coins so you get a break this hunt. I'm going to retire her at the end of this month.

Nice finds on your road trip, merc's are always great finds and the cross is really nice.

Nice hunt!:detecting:Great clad haul!:clapping:Congrats on the silver!:cheers:Happy Hunting!:)

Did you see that big green triangle in photo 1? I stuck it in some peroxide and the writing on it stood out nicely. It's printed so it reads backwards. In other words, you need a mirror to read it. It reads "Hudson Super Six." Thats a car, FYI. Anyone want to tell me why it is backwards or what it might be? Maybe it was a tool to impress someting on leather or rubber? From what I can tell they stopped making the cars in the 20s or 30s. Cool old relic. Can't wait for my next trip by that old school.

Hey Buddy,

My guess would be an old printers plate from the add in the paper.
I remember at the ripe old age of 5 1/2 years old when my Granddaddy
drove up in the driveway in a shiney new Hudson Hornet! 1951. Wow, what
a car. Me and Daddy and Grand daddy took it for a ride. When he
mashed the gas, it set you back into the plush seats like a rocket
booster. LOL! Some 60 years ago. Regards, Jim

If you really like it maybe I'll use it for a couple of weeks. Or months. Or years. I still like the old one. I started using it right before I hit 25000 lifetime coins. I'm at over 36000 now so she has seen a lot of coins, and rings, and relics. I'll miss her when she goes.

Nice road trip. Congratulations on your finds. Those old coin designs of the mercury dime and other coins have the newer designs beat by a country mile. People just seemed to take more pride in their craftsmanship back then.

They stopped making Hudsons in the early sixties. The Hudson Hornet was the hottest thing on the stock car tracks for years. They were a great car, big, roomy, luxurious and fast..The Hornet had a 300 plus cubic inch six under the hood with dual carbs.

I only researched the Super Six. When did they stop making that one? I think I got it wrong. Did you ever ride in one?
