Rivet

Does anyone know about rivets and their age?
I was hunting a new permission which supposed to have history
from the middle 1800's.
This is the only thing I have found on that hunt that looks old
everything else looks 1950-1970's.
Copper or Brass Non-magnetic.

Most likely horse tact....from a saddle or harness. Don't know about age, I've recovered them from Civil War sites, home yards and about any place where horses were used. From that regard, they can somewhat help date a site. HH jim tn

Yes in some way horse tact. I have found several of different sizes. They are a cool find. Congrats

That's a big one, probably from the era you are looking for. Some home sites I hunt have dozens of them scattered about, like pull tabs you gotta dig them to get the good stuff.
HH Jeff

Could it also maybe be from a pair of overalls? The chest rivets where the shoulder straps connect?
