You guys ought to try a DeepTech Vista Smart or Vista Gold. They have very, very quick response times to each and every individual target. They have two-tone i.d., low for iron/aluminum (at higher discrimination) and an iron volume adjustment. They are not cheap (similar to the price of a Fisher F75) but they will respond to (every) target down there in the ground save for the really deep and/or really small targets. They're very hard to find now but if you're lucky enough to find one, you better grab it. Will run at (LEAST) as quick as a Garrett AT-Pro. And don't get overwhelmed that there are so many targets underground. Just focus on the high-pitch tones with disc to max. Once you become accustomed to handling that amt. of signals, back down the disc. to right before the nickle tone turns a low tone. As with (ANY) good detector, you (will) dig pull tabs but you will also get all your thin gold and nickles as well. Too often, people will go to a very trashy area with these detectors, get overwhelmed, then give up. It's a great machine but you (HAVE) to be willing to learn what the machine is trying to tell you. You master the machine and not the other way around. If you want a mediocre machine, there's half a zillion models out there. If you want a machine that can go appx. 12" on a dime right next to or on top of a nail/pull tab, than this machine should fit the bill. There's only a few other machines out there that can do this but they're usually very expensive and some cheaper ones will do this but with their sensitivity to max (chattering and unstable) and disc. to zero. Not a realistic way to metal detect. Remember, these machines (will) detect a dime right next to or below a nail and pull tab. Try that with a lot of machines. Get one of these, do an air test on these objects and be amazed. I tried this test last night and I was very impressed. I don't remember since it was many years ago but I don't think even my Fisher 1266X I used to own, could do this.
