removing coin counter due to a lot of questioning..

DFX-Gregg

Well-known member
I figured it was a good time to actually show my clad finds for this year. On another forum someone questioned my totals and asked for a current picture of my clad finds all together. I think my coin counter is drawing way to much attention so i will remove it at 5500 my original goal. I have learned a lot from some expert users finding a lot, I think I just learned showing the numbers can lead to jealousy and cause others to question you, as well as put the spot light on you!

Keep the coin counter on your posts. You have worked very hard to achieve your objective. It may be hard for some to believe that if one tries hard enough they can accomplish some impressive goals as you are doing. Keep up the good work and have lots of fun! I for one enjoy your coin counter and your posts of your finds. Mike

If they can not handle it, so what, keep your counter...:clapping:
I sure am not jealous of you, great job, that kind of discipline take time and commitment. If anyone is jealous, tell them to get over it....

Take Care,:detecting:

DFX-Greg, Keep the coin counter on. I also enjoy checking your finds out each day and looking at your totals. Don't let a few skeptics bring you down, I would bet there are more people like myself who enjoy your pics and the coin counter then the few who voiced there doubts. Keith

I keep coming back to ck your totals. You set a goal, and work hard to achieve it,Love your posts.Keep the counter up . It's great motivation!
HH ,Good Luck with your goal!! Richard A. S.La.

Gregg, I think it is a distraction and the counter needs to go away. There is no way you are actually finding that many coins. HaHa!!!! YEAH RIGHT!!!! I love the counter. Say it aint so. Don't take it down. I was looking at it yesterday and it got me all excited to go digging after work. Leave it up. It is a good motivation tool for everyone. Sure there are a few grinches, but as you can see from the replies, the majority of us enjoy it a great deal.

Hi Gregg,

Around the beginning of this year someone on one of the forums posted a suggestion that we all include a coin counter in our posts. Evidently, the suggestion seemed like a good idea to a lot of us. Coin counters started popping up everywhere.

There was never a hint that the coin counters were part of a competition. Since there is no contest, there is no incentive to pad the totals. If someone is offended by your totals as compared to their own, they have a lot of options which include but are not limited to: ignoring your coin counter, working harder to improve their counts, dropping their own counter and adjusting their attitude.

I know detectorists with finds exceeding yours and mine combined. They do not post their totals. They are too busy hunting. People doubting the possibility of your totals have no idea of the potential.

Drop your coin counter if YOU want to, but do not allow yourself to be pushed into dropping it.

Continued good fortune and have fun,
Bob

Rubbish!! I like the coin counter and it is good motivation. Lose the coin counter if you want to or if it's a pain to keep track of, but I like it!

greg dont remove it , it is an encouragement to me , those who get jelouse are not looking in the right spots plus im shure you put a lot of time in do they still have to have someone tie thear shoes to bucha da gone babys

Don't do it some of us enjoy what you are doing.
I want to see you get the 6000 coin.
Keep the coin counter going.
My best was over 5600 coins in one year.
I know it can be done.
KEEP THE COUNTER GOING.........................
I will do it but I spend most of my time looking for the old coins
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK................................LOL

Well thanks I have received a lot of positive feedback. Obviously anyone saying it is no big deal does not realize the time I have put in thanks and I seriously doubt they find to much!

Well it is more like people who hunt once a month for 15 minutes do not realize this is possible especially in an area like mine. Thanks! I do have the counter on 3 forums and it does become a pain sometimes. I put the counter on to help me treach my goal I did not realize I would find so much clad and so little silver! Only 4 silver coins...this year...

Bob I just find it hard to believe that I get out and use mt detector 3 times a week, have taken the time to make it work right for me...then have people saying it is not possible....when if I hunted more than 10 hours a week I thing I could have easily doubled these numbers at this point! That is what is surprising to me, i know I could have a lot more time permitting. Thanks Bob you have been a supporter and great to see you have done very well too! Maybe someone can bug you instead of me!

now I am starting to feel pressure, people seem to expect me to post finding 100 coins everytime I go out! Some almost seem disapointed on some forums! I try to hit 100 coins once a week. Honestly if I hunted 5 hours each hunt I would have a 100 coin day everytime..so I am not sure what the problem is. Today I was out just over 2 hours will post soon.

Keith from getting out I have a blister on my inner right thumb that does not want to go away! I have not been wearing gloves lately because of heat. My last 100 coin day was Monday...I wanted to get it out of the way for the week and stayed out in the pouring rain till I hit 100, it took 4 hours and 15 minutes, not counting the rain delay! So I was soaked covered in mud, and detector screen though covered was all fogged up! I had a half hour rain delay so I counted my coins and made sure I hit 100 before i left. I was soaked and had to change my clothes, when I got home it felt like someone beat me up...not sure it was worth it that day to get to 100!
