Relic find in norway

JohnnyTh

New member
Hi

Had a little trip out yesterday with my x-30 and found this outside a old farmhouse here in Norway. It was found just 5-8 cm down, on rocky ground.

And relay curious what it is. at first i thought it was just another piece of horse harness. Witch i have found several of. But after a little cleaning is show this neat decoration and there is fragments of glasspearls in the round "holes"

Metal color is "golden". when i found it it was slightly bent but was soft to straighten back out.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Johnny...Very nice find. Don't think we have too many items that old here in Texas. I was wondering where you are in Norway. Any chance you are close to Trumso?

No about as far away from Tromso that you can be in Norway. I live way down on the south tip. Tromso is as you might now way north.

I was just wondering. Several years back we had an exchange student from Trumso. We became very attached to her, but eventually lost contact with her. She sent many beautiful picture of that part of Norway and learned a lot about her way of life living above the Artic Circle.

Most likely it is made of Brass. Stamped out of thin sheet metal, it once would have held faux "stones" or pearls. Worn on cloth belts on women's dresses. There are also military sash buckles. Nice find, David@Dixie
