I posted the info about a month ago. If you use the search function of this forum I think you can find it. I have a 25 year old Panasonic charger that can charge AA, C, and D cells as well as 9volt batteries. It can charge two 9 volt batteries at a time. When I am out, I use a Harbor Freight inverter to convert 12 volt DC car current to 120 volt AC to power the charger. I like having one pair charging while the other is in use. I also carry a pair of 9 volt alkaline batteries just as a back up. So far I haven't had to use them.
Not to be rude but it took more energy to type "I posted the info about a month ago. If you use the search function of this forum I think you can find it." than to just simply type where you got them. but thanks anyways I will search and see if I can find it.
found them thanks for the info. I will give these a try. So on the charger it doesn't really matter what kind of charger it is as long as it does 9volts right.
Well I ordered some they came in a 4 pack for 12.00 i posted the link up top. and i got a charger also it said it would charge the 300 ones also so i will give it a try and if it doesn't work then i will build a charger to charge the high amp ones. also got a few books from slezbay. coin shooting books, how and where to do it, and the new one by garett. i will let you know how i like the new batteries. thanks for the tip mwaynebennett
I went with GoGoGopher's advice and bought the 9.6V PowerEx batteries from Zbattery.com. BatteriesPlus sells this same battery and I was able to talk to the salesman at the local BatteriesPlus retail store. He convinced me that this is a very high quality battery and is a true 9.6V 230mAh. I also ordered the PowerEx rapid smart charger. It has 4 separate channels to charge 1 to 4 batteries individually and reduces to a trickle charge when they are fully charged to maintain the full charge. It comes with a carry pouch, 4 battery storage case, AC cord, and DC cord for the car. I charged the batteries and they charged to a little over 11V (two of them measured 11.3V).
I read some reviews on the BTY brand of rechargeable batteries and had second thoughts about buying them. There were complaints of defective batteries and about the actual capacity being much lower than what was marked on the batteries. A cheap price doesn't always mean cheap quality just as expensive doesn't always mean high quality. I'm not knocking them because I know reviews can just be a lot of BS but it was enough to push me toward the PowerEx batteries.
I also purchased two 9V 200mAh rechargeables from the local Harbor Freight store. I will use them in my pinpointers. They are capable of charging in a rapid charger so I can use the PowerEx charger for them as well. They charged to over 10.5V.
Thanks for the input and thanks for your advice GoGoGopher. Now if it would just quit raining........
Harbor Freight tools has a Chinese knock-off of a Swiss Army knife with sheath for about $1.90. I bought one, put the knife in my emergency supplies and used two nylon wire ties to secure the sheath to the handle of my Elite 2200. I can place two of the BTY 9 volt batteries in the sheath and because the cases of the batteries are plastic, the top battery will not short out the contacts of the lower battery. This way I have my back-up batteries handy.
Mark, that knife sheath for extra batteries idea is great! When I was in Harbor Freight recently I saw a knock off survival knife that looked like it would be a decent backup digger. But I hadn't seen the one you bought. I'll have to get one of those to carry extra batteries.
I was thinking about strapping a pepper spray sheath/holster on my detector shaft. This past Wednesday evening I was charged by a BIG unleashed black dog in a secluded area. The dog charged to within about 8 or 10 feet of me before stopping. I didn't back down and yelled at it to stop and stay. It stopped but kept barking and acting as if was going to lunge at me. I was trying to think what the Dog Whisperer would do. Fortunately the dog's owner was nearby and came running to my rescue. The dog didn't pay much attention to her being as it was nearly totally focused on me. The owner never spoke to me or apologized for her dog nearly giving me a heart attack. I was certain some much loved and much needed part of me was going to get gnawed on. I did have my digger and screwdriver probe but I didn't really want to be that close to the dog if I could help it. So now I am thinking that a container of pepper spray would be the perfect accessory for the well dressed detectorist. Kind of a long distance dog repellant. Not to mention rabid squirrels and attack bunnies.
I found one of these bags on ebay, i am going to get one so that i can carry anything that can fit in it. It looks very nice and comfy. go to ebay and up this number in the search bar and it will take you to it.

It is a matter of manners. People are supposed to search the archives prior to asking questions that have already been addressed. Also, It took me perhaps 10 - 20 seconds to type that. It would have taken me several minutes to go back and find all the info.
Now that that is said, how are the batteries working for you?
www.sciplus.com has a small (nightlight size) charger w/ 2 9V NiCad batteries for medical equipment. The price is $7.95 for the set & That's about as cheap as just 2 batteries alone. Mine are fully recharged overnight even if completely depleted.. My 2nd set are Radio Shacks & The pair cost more than the charger set! But no one else had 9v at the time. I do keep a few Alkies handy 'just in case', as well as the Radio Shack 9v battery clips (per my prior post).
Fast chargers do not cook batteries if they are designed to be fast charged. I charge all my NIMH batteries with 2 chargers I use for RC Planes. Nicads are worthless today. I buy batteries on ebay and make my own packs for RC. Carry extra batteries if your machine is eating them. My chargers also can be used hooked to my car battery so I can charge while away from ac. Use nimh batteries in all my detectors. Put extras in a zip lock bag so terminals do not touch each other and burn your pocket. Or burn something more valuable like the would be airplane bomber.
