Rechargable Batteries ?

My Energizer 2400's Seem to lose a significant amount of charge in 3 or 4 days. Enough so that when I put them in the Panasonic charger, they will charge for several more hours. Hmm?

After reading this post decided to give some rechargeable batteries a shot.
Was about time for fresh ones any way. Picked up 4 EBL 600mAH and a charger on eBay for $17.
Charged them and compared operation vs regular 9v and no difference in performance
in the Mojave or Garrett AT pin pointer. Was out fo about 4 hours today at a boat ramp park area.
Some clad, fishing weights and assorted trinkets and trash.. Same battery test duration
after as when I started. Time will tell but with them not costing much more than duracells
I'd say it'll be a win win situation. Thanks for all the info.

Well right away newly charged they will read low as far as Tesoro battery check which throws people off, but it's just at a lower voltage right away. It stays there for the entire life of the charge then drops off fast, but they do work well.
Be sure you check each one. I've heard of bad cells sometimes and if you contact them they will send you new ones but you want to do that as soon as possible

I've been using the AA LSD rechargeables for a few years now and the Eneloops work well just like the name brand alkalines in my detectors and other household usages. As others have said, voltage through the life of the battery has a different pattern with rechargeables than alkalines, but it doesn't affect performance.

About 3 cents of electricity to recharge a AA versus at least 20-25 cents per battery to get a name or decent house brand alkaline means that the initial higher outlay for the rechargeable batteries is recouped pretty quickly. Plus I don't find myself trying to get as much juice as I can out of a battery when the cost is only 3 cents to pop in a new one.

AA rechargeables (and AAA) are way more widely used and sold than the 9V ones, but 3 of my 4 detectors and my pinpointer take 9V. So thank you guys for talking me into it by convincing me there is no appreciable performance loss vs. alkalines.

$21.99 for 4 EBL LSD batteries with a charger will pay for itself very quickly considering I pay anywhere from $1.25 to $2.00 a piece for a decent 9V alkaline.

I have to agree with you Bleaver.....for what you save it's hardly worth the effort...I spend $1.85 on a large coffee it might last me a whole twenty minutes...but it was good coffee.
No different in buying a good 9v duracell battery for $2.00 and getting 10 to 20 hours out of it....
It's a all semantics...... guess what ever floats your boat:)

I'm of the opinion that rechargeables are not worth the effort. Battery drain on Tesoro's is so slight (especially on the single battery models) that they just don't make sense to me.
