Ramrod or cleaning rod ?

jayhop

Any ideas? Found it on a battle field. Looks to me like it's the metal part of a wooden ramrod or cleaning rod. But I haven't seen one like this.
Any help would be appreciated.

We have found several of these while detecting some of the out of the way area. I have even one that was made out of some copper fitting and showed it to our local Sherrif to make sure it was OK to have. Was told it is OK as long as there is not pot or resedue in it. The one pictured here does show a little redue for being used. Us detertorist find all kind of odd thing, makes it interesting.

Interesting find.

Even though not a war relic… still a neat find… I found a dope pipe while searching an area where civil war bullets were turning up by the handfuls.
Another one I found similar to yours, but looks just like a cigarette, but hollow inside to put dope in.
